I would imagine its easier for you to empty it, otherwise you will get every last item sent back to you by the bank as its your property and all they are legally able/and want to take is the van.

I'd go around your neighbours and offer to take all their rubbish too. Fill it to the brim for them.

Why? Banks don't repossess stuff for no reason. Why are they always painted as the bad ones in repo cases? In my experience most are fairly happy to go through a few months of re-structuring or re-ordering of a loan before taking such steps, because repo-ing actually costs money.

If I was repo-ing that van and it was filled with stuff I'd levy a hefty charge for the clean up after. Remember, its their property and you have no right to deface or foul it. Its beggars belief the mentality some people have towards credit and its consequences in this country.

OP empty it or risk getting a hefty fine for clear up.

Tbh OP is trying to do the right thing and could have come to an amicable agreement about it.

OP it might just make you feel good to just empty it. You won't be worrying about it then

The op should probably piss, sh1t and throw random acids into the diesel tank too,

That way, not only the bank gets burnt, but the unfortunate who buys it at auction gets burnt too.. everybody wins

Yeah sure that's a great idea, the totally harmless and innocent chap that buys the van should get it too!! WHY??
    What harm has he done?

Make sure you empty it of fuel too.

I saw a repo a couple of years back in an apartment block it was very distressing. A fine big L200 crew cab, there were four guys I could only describe as nasty looking bouncers/bodybuilders dressed in black repossessing the Jeep, they shagged everything out on the footpath including baby seat, golf clubs etc and there were strong words being exchanged with the 'owner'. , the repo guys were shouting 'give me the key, gave me the fcuking key'. Terrible to see.

So OP, if you are resigned to the fact that your motor is going to go, see your goodbyes and move on. Best of luck.

If the op has any sense, he will remove his **** and hand over the keys. I know the banks get up to alot of crap themselves but in this case, if the payments are not being made, its hardly the banks problem.

Lost keys, four soft tyres, no fuel and doing well not to get both barrels, miserable thugs.

Why? The lads doing the repo are doing a job. Working hard and making ends meet. If your stuff is being repo'd your probably that rung of society who deems it OK to wash your hands of responsibility and point the finger of blame, mostly at the Government, Germany and whoever the Daily Mail is currently blaming.

Get a grip. If a repo man is at your door, take your medicine and cop the hell on. It doesn't happen for no reason or prior warning.

OP, care to explain why your van was repo'd?

Anyone watch repo man show from uk. Its gas. 95 percent scumbags that it shows him taking cars off.
The guy fits the bill being a big f*cker and able to handle himself. The funny bit is, as a side line he does wall paintings for childrens bedrooms and writes childrens books.

Yep, and all the advocates here will surely be happy to handover parts of their income to pay back the banks, who've been burned by people who feel they don't have to pay their debts.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 405 ✭✭00833827

As far as i know (i have no personal experience of repossession), they might levy a clean up charge to what is owing on the van if its full of rubbish. If its condition is not acceptable for the age of the vehicle (regarded as general wear and tear) they might levy repair charges too as it will need to be in a sellable condition so they can auction it and recover some costs on it.

Since the OP is not paying whats already outstanding on the van and doesn't seem to be involving in a payment process in the future, then these charges are pretty irrelevant I would think.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,777 ✭✭✭meathstevie

I've seen quite a few repo folks in action and the vast majority are unconfrontational, quite polite and matter of factly. Nobody wants these situations to develop in needless confrontation. Let's not forget that a lot of repossessions of machinery and vehicles are happening by agreement.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,430 ✭✭✭Ilik Urgee

This thread puts the jury out on the integrity of repo'd stuff at auction. If they can't be bothered to empty the rubbish out of them, doesn't say much for the general upkeep over any period imo.

Reminds me of a mechanic who relayed a conversation with a van-driving customer of his-

    Mechanic-"Does she take much oil?"

Your man-"She would if she got it!"

Nope, I'm a respectable taxpayer. and you?

While I don't agree with covering the debts of huge private corporations; for or against: that is the situation.

I just don't think people should think the above is a ticket to allow them to ad to the burden, just 'cos they don't want to pay their dues.

I'm a respectable alien taxpayer. Look, I'll make it simple: the vast majority of people in these situations these days are there through no fault of their own, there is no money, and no way of getting it. And as usual in this country, it is the poorest and most helpless that get it in the neck.

 do aliens have to pay local vat rates or can they write it off? :pac:

Its not that simple, people are jumping on the bandwagon and deciding not to pay. (seperate problem)

But, as you say, there's no money - so they cant pay the bank, okay, hard times come, and it sucks, but as per agreements, if payments aren't serviced, the bank still owns the property secured against the loan, so they reposess to try and recoup some of the losses, so the taxpayer doesnt have to step in.

So, tell me, why would you advocate?:
