Right bit of a knee jerk log but noticed over the last few weeks the 0-0 at HT bet is a decent runner for the right games, usually priced between 2.5 -> 2.9

I'll try do at least once a week even when the Prem stops, LOI mostly I imagine. If i decide to trade out at any stage quote the original bet and trade details in a reply.

Start of with a bank of €44.41 euro since thats whats in my Betfair account. I'll use Betfair if at all possible unless the market isn;t available and then i'll use my main B365 account.

Ok one from the LOI tonight Shamrock Rovers v Bohs. Its based on feeling more, just as much as stats. Dublin derby should be a tight enough fair, especially in the first half. 5 of he last 6 meetings have resulted in 2 or less goals. Rovers score 67% of their goals in the second half and should be the ones pushing here. Bohs score more evenly but the hope being that they won't be seeing much of the ball early on.

I've gotten matched @ 4.00 on Betfair, which is far higher than usual, the perception that Tottenham have to win and S'land are rubbish/have nothing to play likely effecting the price. However Tottenham are not prolific scorers are home (1.56 p/g) and score 68% of their goals in the second half, averag time of first goal is 49m. The intention here is to cashout at around the 30m mark as despite the stats, I do not want to get greedy. I feel Spurs will certainly win but it will take a while for them to score so hopefully can turn a decent profit.

Tijuana v Athletico Mineiro @2.74

Reason : Ok there is one good side to this bet and one bad. Firstly the good, Tijuana have played 4 Copa games at home and have yet to concede, they score 80% of their goals in the second half (Avr time 50m). The bad is that Mineiro are a quality side, and only score 57% of their goals in the second half (avr time 22m ). Now the hope here is that its the first leg of a two leg affair, by nature these tend to be tight games, added to that is Tijuana's defensive home record. I feel there is enough here to warrant a punt. I will be watching a live stream through B365 and if Mineiro look well on top I will be looking to cashout at around even money.

Well that was unexpected. Tijuana were all over MG from the start, could of had about 3 goals earlier than when they scored. Was tempted to cashout as a goal was inevitable but the price I got wasn't great so I just left it with the hope MG could hold out for the last 12 mins.

Instead of cashing out about evens around minute 27 there is an alternative market you might be interested in... 'Time of first goal'.

It is usually in the region is minute 23-27 and can be had usually at 1.83-1.91.

No need to cash out, no liquidity issues and there can be a late first half goal and you still win.

So you saying instead of say cashing out at 35 mins, I back first goal between 35-45 mins, or something similar?

That would yield a better guaranteed profit?

The catch is that there has to be a goal scored as if the game ends 0-0 the bet loses.

I believe you will have a higher ROI with this bet versus 0-0 @ HT and I would prefer this bet over the second half most goals in the majority of matches as for example the most common scoreline in the premier league for example in the last few seasons has been 1-1.

Its not a market I bet so you may as well paper trade all three bets over your next 100 selections and see how you get on with each.

Ok so the past few weeks I've made some really bad picks. Think I got a little over-confident after the initial good start.

First of all late night South American picks when I get home from work are out.

Secondly my initial inspiration for this log was susccess in the last two months of the Premiership eg a league I know alot about. Transferring that onto leagues i'm not so confident on and just going on stats isn't the same....

So from now on the picks are going to be less frequent, and mostly LOI since thats the next best thing to the PL....if things start going badly I think i'll cut my losses and wait for the new season!

Reason: Couple of good indicators that tonights game will be tight. The LOI game between the two sides at Ballyboffey finished 0-0 about a month ago, both sit joint 2nd in the league and seem evenly matched. Neither are very big scorers (1.17 and 1.33 gpg respectively - Wexford away is 0.67). Finn Harps score 56% of their goals in secondhalf Wexford 64%. This will be the second time they play each other in a week, another indication of a tight game. A couple of suspensions to offensive players each Howe for Wexford and McHigh (6 goals this season ) for Harps.

The only obvious weakness I see here is Harps were poor last week and will be looking for revenge and a fast start.

Finland are not big scorers at home, 1 goal in two games this campaign and if you take San Marino and Moldova out of last campaign they scored 2 goals in 3 games. Belarus scored 3 goals from 5 away games last campaign, but only conceded 4. This campaingn they have scored once in two games and conceded 4, although 3 of those were against France. Finland should be the ones pushing here, but Belarus will be a well drilled side and many of the team play together for BATE Borislov so they will be organised and hopefully difficult to breakdown.

Ok so I over estimated my profit there, was in work so it was just guess work!

The Yankee brought me in €35 with 3 of thee teams in, and then laying off over 0.5 in Port/Russia brought me €50 so €85. Really happy I traded out of that as Portugal scored after 9 minutes!

Anyway this was separate to the log and the winnings will not be added to the bank. Not sure if I will do it again to be honest, maybe just a straight accumulator next time, with 3 of the selections coming in I still only doubled my money, still a bit of fun this time and a nice profit!

Ok here we go again with the u21 Euro's

Spain v Netherlands @ 3.35

Reason : Ok a couple of good reasons here, and a bit of a downside too. First Spain u21's have an incredible defensive record, conceding only 0.25 gpg in the qualifying campaign. In the championship themselves they have two 1-0 wins. Both teams are top of the group and qualified so they will be less likely to push. The more free scoring team here, Netherlands only need a draw to top the group so they will hopefully sit back a bit an invite Spain on. The odd are quite high at 3.35, so if I can I might cashout early for a decent profit, however I will be in work so this mightn't pan out.

Ok LOI time, was wuite difficult making a pick this week...there were several game I looked at, Rovers as usual looked good, but Limericks away scoring record and Rovers good form put me off there...so I've gone for..

Dundalk v St Pats @ 3.1

St. Pats are in great form but 66% of their goals come in the second half. Hopefully Dundalk as the home team will keep this tight. Reason : Ok pretty easy pick here to be honest. Mexico have been on pretty incredible run of 0-0 draw, 4 in their last 6 games. The have conceded 4 goals in 12 qualifications games and have scored 76% of their goals in the second half too. Italy are more free scoring, however have still only conceded 4 goals in 6 qualification games. They are coming off a 0-0 away to Czech Republic. I'd expect a tight enough game here, Probable Italian win but has an unders game written all over it.

Reason : Another obvious pick I think, even if the last obvious one didn't go so well! 3 of Italy's last 4 matches have been 0-0 at HT, 2 of Spain last 4 games have also been. It all comes down to Italy's defence here, in the qualification campaign they conceived 0.79 gpg. Spain are going to have most of the ball as usual, an there isn;t many better teams out there at sitting and defending than the Italians. Both Norway and Germany managed to frustrate Spain so I can see Italy doing the same here, for a while at least. Obviously its a final, and finals can often be tentative affairs, early on at least ( see CL and Play offs).
