Ok, this is a bit like asking for the length of the proverbial piece of string but here goes anyway, maybe somebody out there has some experience.

How long would it take an architect to draw up plans something like the following?

    Stage 1 - preliminary sketches
Stage 2 - detailed drawings suitable for planning
    Stage 3 - detailed spec for builder/tender

Planning for something around 150 sq metres with 3 beds and usual other rooms.

    Thanks in advance

Depending on brief I'd expect first sketch max a month from when I start drawing it. Most times I'd have something within a week.

The unknowable is when the sketch was started. This depends on so many things.

Roughly same time frame for next two processes.

Planning within a month of agreed design.

The contract drawings for me vary on the nature of contract.

Self build vs sole contractor vs multiple subcontractor and complexity of build.

These are generalisations but based on what I generally do. I'm sure others vary differently. Some jobs run far more smoothly than others.

I have done jobs from start to finish within a couple of weeks while others have taken over a year to complete waiting on responses and windows of opertunity.

I know this is vague but I hope it helps a little.
