Anyone have an idea how many kcals you would burn if you did 5 mins of ab crunches and 5 mins of bicycles for the abs after some intense cardio?

    About 10 kcals, if even
    5 mins of bicycles

Depends on the intensity but around 30 maybe (that's just a slightly educated guess though

Whats all this i see online about crunches burning fat etc. Id rather do 5mins on bike as i would burn more kcals so if thats the case. There would be sweat pouring off me after 2mins of crunches and im now dissappointed to hear that i am burning 2kcals a min with crunches.

Do they not burn fat around the abs?

no they strengthen your stomach muscles.

You cannot target burn fat like that. fat is burned across your whole body at once.

I reckon I will spend more time on bike going flat out from now on and do few sets of crunches afterwards instead.

If I'm cycling with my own road bike on bike rollers (not stationary bike) doing an average speed of 35km/h for 80mins, how many kcals approx would I be burning? My tshirt will be always dripping wet with sweat afterwards. I assume I would be doing over 1000kcals surely? My Garmin tells me 1500 but that's not accurate without the HR monitor. Don't have one at the moment unfortunately to tell me.

Siz packs are made in the kitchen. If you want to lose fat around your middle just keep cycling and eat less than maintenance calories.

1500 calories in 80 minutes sounds quite high but it would depend on your own weight and heart rate, hard to gauge without using the HR strap.

Got my Garmin heart rate monitor, I did 50mins tonight on turbo trainer with slight resistance, it tells me I burned 627kcals with HR attached. More accurate than without it I assume.
