eating late

    Is it bad to eat your dinner late in evening i.e. 10pm after a good workout if you are trying to lose weight around belly area? Bad idea? I am trying to adjust a few things, trying to lose bit of weight and body fat.

    No but what you eat is important when trying to lose weight. Post your daily diet.

    Considering you posted this at 2.30am, then 10pm isn't that late anymore. If you were eating at 10pm and then going to bed soon after, that could arguably cause you problems. When people talk about eating late being bad for weight loss they mean eating near bedtime. The actual time is irrelevant.

    And FYI, don't try to specifically lose weight around the belly area. It doesn't work that way. Just try to lose weight everywhere if you want a smaller belly

    what's near bed time? and how does is cause problems?

    I have dinner most nights post work out, between 8-9pm and go to bed between 10-11pm.

    The OP was talking with regard to weight loss. The theory regarding eating near bedtime, is that you don't burn off what you have eaten if you have a large meal, so it gets stored. Obviously if you are eating post work out then thats different.

    The food you eat gets stored anyway. Right after you eat your body enters anabolic state and then as less nutrients are available in the bloodstream it gradually shifts back into catabolic state until your next meal.

    That is extremely simplified explanation of what is going on. It is the balance over a period of time, between anabolic and catabolic states in your body that eventually will determine if you are going to lose or gain weight.

    In most cases, the time of your meal is irrelevant.

    I used to go to gym before I eat at 10pm but I am thinking maybe I should eat dinner in the evening and go to gym 1-2hours after my meal. I just trying to change a few things.

    Just bear this in mind it takes 2 hours for your body to fully process any food,that is nutrient absorption and waste..

    LIke I said the time is irrelevant. What time do you go to bed normally?

    And again, the eating before bed thing is just a theory, just like a lot of weight loss advice.

    Around 12am. I guess the key is eat less maintenance kcals during day. I just wanted to make sure it didnt affect me when trying to loose weight.

    If you eat less during the day, you may not have enough energy for your gym session. Just stick to lean protein, and try and keep it light. Maybe it goes without saying, but if you have a steak, have a steak and salad, not steak and chips.
