    Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone knows of any gyms/clubs in Dublin that have inversion tables,I have a seriously bad back with two prolapsed disks,I hear very good things about them and don't really have the room for one at home, any information on these would be greatly appreciated!

    thanks in advance :D

Pretty specialised piece of kit.. doubt you'll find one in a commercial gym.

Looks a bit gimmicky to me, but could you maybe get the same effect using a decline bench, or by hanging off a pull-up bar?

Westwood Leopardstown have one, alternatively you could get inversion boots. and hang off a pullup bar...

A cheaper alternative is a yoga sling (they go under several names). I used my dip belt as a yoga sling and it worked well, though its a good ironmind belt rated to stupid loads.

    You hang like this

I posted about this on a gymnastics forum and one of the mods who I think is a yoga instructor said of my hip belt idea (G boots being gravity/inversion boots)
I honestly think that type of inversion is much better than the G boots.

Ideally you want the belt around the sacrum. If you look at the first picture you posted, you'll she has a healthy lumbar curve that the strap forces. If you tend to have a jammed lower back or sacrum, this little bit of accentuation to the lumbar lordosis will often be very relieving.

The author Dan Brown was on TV last night saying he uses gravity boots
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dan_Brown#Influences_and_habits
He keeps an antique hourglass on his desk, so that he can stop briefly every hour to do push-ups, sit-ups and stretching exercises to keep his blood flowing.[25] Brown does his writing in his loft. He has also told fans that he uses inversion therapy to help with writer's block. He uses gravity boots and says, "hanging upside down seems to help me solve plot challenges by shifting my entire perspective."

I use 41 inch heavy bands draped over the pull up handles of a power rack...

Very nice, you could use it to do assisted handstand pushups.

With my dip belt I have either a rope and/or gymnastic ring on the chinup bar too, this assists me so I can gently get inverted & back up again. I sort of sit into the dip belt like a kids swing, and hold onto the rope/ring and let myself fall back.

I have the dip belt looped into a single gym ring or empty webbing strap
