The last thread for this wasn't really going anywhere in terms of making a decision so ( I hope) to put a poll on this.

Just vote for the day and place that suits you best and then put yourself on the list :)

We'll set the meet start time at 6.30 - 7pm, There should be plenty of light left with the stretch in the evenings :p

The 30th suits me I guess. Driving back to cork that late will be a bit of a balls but sure :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,792 ✭✭✭Ded_Zebra

Ok this is the route that I recommend for getting to Glendalough from the Dublin area. First, get yourself to Tallaght and then follow this route. Probably one of the best sections of road in the country for a drive (in Wicklow/Dublin at least). If you look at it in street view you'll see what I mean .

Note that lots of the road have been resurfaced since the street view pictures were taken :)

Nice drive but for anyone rushing from work they would be better off taking the M50 / N11 to Kilmacanogue then heading up via Roundwood. ;)

I'm easy for either actually, weekdays are easier for me.

TBH going that way is probably faster for me as I'm familiar with the roads but yep you are probably right the N11 would be faster for most. I would rather be a few mins late and go that way though :)
Just making sure people are aware of that route if they aren't under time pressure :)

It's a great drive if you have the time and it's a nice evening. I probably won't make this but I reckon Glendalough is the better option as more of the Dublin crowd are likely to make it as opposed to Courtown. ;)

Just promise that you'll show up if you still have the Trans Am  I would love to see it :D

Did they truck Glendalough to the south east, or airlift it?

    are you attending or criticising?

i suppose the title came from the initial thread where the intention was to meet in courtown. "eastern" meet then if you want to get that pedantic.

i dont mind either location tbh :) but in defence of my original idea, although (according to aa-routeplanner which i know is a bit idealistic) courtown is nearly twice the distance from kilmacanogue, but the travel time is only an additional 12 minutes, probably because its motorway literally the whole way so its not a world of difference for people in a rush.

just saying :pac: admittedly glendalough would be a nicer trip!

looking forward to a snoop around some cool cars at this now :)

Cheeky :) really up for this as missed last one with dodgy tyre and RR day cause was working my birthday.

Was planning on heading to blanch for suspension stuff before June anyway so two birds with one stone

Sunday bump for anyone who has missed it

Probably won't go lads. Proximity to bank holiday means tight targets etc.

I'll see how I'm fixed closer to the time.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10,272 ✭✭✭✭Max Power1

I'll go along if I get my 535 sorted :D

My preference would be for Glendalough and on the 30th May

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,238 ✭✭✭Ardennes1944

I aint going anyway after thinking about it. 6 hour drive just aint worth it for me.

Sorry, I didn't realise making a joke about Glendalough being in the south east would be considered pedantic.

For the record though, I won't be attending, although if it was actually in the south east I probably would. I understand other meets have been held in Midway, I might go there next time one comes up.

Midway's in the north west, right? Up near Glasgow?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,106 ✭✭✭dar83

I shall be a no for this. Mid week meet not in Dublin is too much hassles, even is it ends up being in Glendalough, still too far. :P

It's half way between America and Japan

There was a large Naval battle there during WW2

But on the other hand it's only 6 hours :pac:

Ya know you want to go for a nice long run in the new car too :p:cool:

i just found the pointless pedantry a bit tiresome. sorry.

if you simply cast a vote for courtown then the meet could fall in your favour and actually be in the south east, try it :) then you can attend!

the midway meets are (from what i've seen) much more large scale.

    Bumpy bump bump.

As you can see form the new title the location has been decided on (just pretend the poll is closed :P)

Here is the most up to date list (I think). Add yourself if you're coming :)

    1. Ded_Zebra - Toyota Levin
    2. Toastedpickles - Opel astra
    3. 166man - Something Italian...
    4. notGill - Borrowed C-max

    Glendas lough? Graaand :pac:

Next question, which car park? The one with the roundabout or the one with the barriers?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,917 ✭✭✭✭Toyotafanboi

top lake car park is probably nicer? the hotel would probably give us the boot otherwise too :P

may head up into the gap for photos if time allows!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,917 ✭✭✭✭Toyotafanboi

may change the title once again to "eastern" motors meet before any more pedants arrive.
