I have just bought an aux engine which is a 2 stroke also but the connection will not fit on as there is a Small piece of metal in the way. It looks like the connection is standard. If I just saw of the small piece of metal i think it will fit. Your thoughts please.

It looks like an old evinrude/johnson connection from the 60's/70's the metal bit is just a guide to make sure you had the connection the right way round it shouldn't make any difference if you cut it off or you could just buy another connection, I think the part number is 376156 for the female and 303600 for the male.

Those old tanks have a tendency to clog up filters and carbs so make sure there is no rust in the bottom of the tank, it would be a good idea to fit an inline filter to be on the safe side

Thanks for that I'll give it a go now and see if it fires up. I assume I put the water ear muffs on the bottom.

A new connector is only about €8 so might be worth your while.

If it's a small engine I use a wheelie bin instead of the muffs
