Anyone know of any Dermatologists or doctors who specialise in skin problems and people who you don't have to wait months to see and pay a lot more than they are worth going to see. Have gone to a dermatologist through the HSE before and biggest waste of time ever. Dublin City are BTW.

This is just my own experience! I've suffered with Eczema since I was 12 (18 years now), I went to a few dermatologists in Dublin over the years & got nowhere, I was always just prescribed anti fungals like daktacourt & cortopin cream! I moved to Engurland for college &starting having flare ups. The 1st guy I went to see tried to prescribe me roacutain (sp, it's the stuff they use on rosacea & acnea afaik it has caused alot of mental health side effects). I asked for a 2nd opinion & got a Dr. who prescribed canesten, cortisone & urea based cream. These worked best till I discovered the benefits of coconut oil & I use them in conjunction with it. My skin still has flare ups but way more manageable!

What's the point of this waffle? It seems to be a lottery with the Dr's you get, research what they prescribe & if you're not happy ask for another opinion! You'll hopefully get someone that knows their ****!

Also try coconut oil & other good fats, it seems to cure (nearly) everything....This may or may not be true ;)

Will see if coconut oil helps as my skin is always irritated. BTW I did 6 months of roacutain and had none of the side affects thankfully.

Good stuff! I dunno if cocnut oil will help, It really depends on what you have tbh! It's great to take anyway, so many other benefits! Fry with it, eat it raw, Put it in your coffee, whatever! I think you're suppose to avoid putting it on your skin if you suffer with acne...not sure though!

Oh yeah, I know plenty of people who were/are on roactutain & are fine! I was prescribed it for acne rosacea at the age of 23. According to what I researched Acne Rosacea doesn't usually manifest til middle age (most common), sometimes in your 30's. This guy was wrong anyway & I never took it!

Never use any cortisone creams they thin the skin over time . A 'dermatologist' told me to use it as much as I want even around the facial area. Two years later I seen a warning on the packaging 'Not to be used near the facial area'. It thinned my skin so anytime the sun is out I would go raw red. I have to use factor50 suncream even if it is only 10degrees celsius out.
I had bad seb dermatitis and tried everything for years and nothing ever worked. I went into a chemist one day and the lady said I see you have bad seb derm I said yes. She said her son has the same and washed his face with Lipikar Sydnet (La Roche Posay) and has never had it since. She gave it to me to try I had tried so many things I wasnt holding much hopes but ever since I used it comlpetely stopped . I use it daily and have not ahd a flare up for nigh on six years now (touchwood) . I went back into the Chemist a month later to thank the woman (with the obligatory box of quality street! ) but she had left . I owe her such an amount of gratitude I cant begin to say.

Hi I use it to wash the facial area. I use it say after a shower or a shave (I am a male you can guess:). I also cheap my hair short all times this might not be as easy for females I know but it definitely helps . I can feel my skin start getting irritant when my hair grows a bit long. Also try and keep clean shaven as well . No beards etc. One more thing I use American Crew daily moisturing shampoo on my hair its little bit more expensive than regular head & shoulders/pantenes shampoo but I go to a barber in Dublin he has been in the business about 40 years and he saw I had Psoriaris/seb dem in the scalp etc. and he said to try it and the he wouldnt put any of the other cheaper brands near his scalp. It has definitely helped me also.
As i said this had helped me but might not help the next person its certainly a trial and error when it comes to finding what irritates your skin and what doesnt etc. It has worked for and touch wood I have had no flare ups for about 7 years now I had bad psoriaris in the scalp and seb dem on my nose ears etc. None of the stuff doctors or dermatologists ever prescribed me for me worked. Not for long anyways.
    Hope it helps some. :)
