    What!!!
You do not have options ???

    What!!!
You do not have options ???

The only option we got for the Junior was Art or Business.

And for the Leaving we got to pick between History, Geography, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Art and Business so it's more or less the same except you didn't have to do History and Geography.

I was tempted to start the post with 'Back in my day..' but I'm only in 5th year :o

You won't need scissors or tape for woodwork, the tape will be given to you with the drawing board.

God only knows why you'd want a scissors though.

I do not know how to cut tape with my teeth :o

NEVER bring Tippex into an exam. It is a curse. If you make a mistake, put a line through it. You will not lose any marks.

Do not use red pen for your exam, use blue or black.

So, say for e.g. I answer a question in maths and I am not sure if it is right and I give another soloution for the same question and I put a line through one of them will the right one be choosen
What happens if I do that for every Qs. :D

I'm just telling you, from an examiner's point of view, tippex does more people out of marks than anything else. It sticks pages together, obliterates other answers and at least 80% of people forget to go back and put in the corrected answer.

In Maths if you have the right method and make an error on calculation, you will still get a lot of marks.

Examiners use red pen and supervising examiners (double checking) use green, so unless you want great confusion when your exam is marked, leave the red and green pens at home.

If you make more than 1 stab at a question and even though they're crossed out, as long as they're legible, the examiners correct all of your attempts and give you the marks of your best attempt. :)

re pencil case, use a clear plastic zip-loc bag, if I was sitting behind you in exam hall i'd be tempted to put a compass through your head if I heard you rummaging through that pencil case full of stuff!
+1 on not using red or green pen, i'd suggest using blue pen for headings and black for main writing (or vice versa), best compromise between colour-coding and confusing examiners :)

No offence, but do you expect me to bring this into school.
People will get a wrong idea that I am poor and have to bring a plastic bag for a pencil case :pac:

Saying 'no offence' doesn't make that attitude any less offensive!
Obviously it would be very upsetting for me if you were to be perceived as 'poor', of course that's more of a concern than the possibility of annoying other students in your exam hall!
Oh and thanks for the helpful link, but I know what a clear plastic bag looks like!!

Yeah but the thing is yeah who makes noise when taking out a pen or pencil from it's pencil case
I have had a pencil case for a lot of time now and I heard no noise while I was getting any equipment that I needed from there
And another thing I gave the picture of the plastic bag to see if that is the one you are talking about....

Apologies Man City, I was in bad form after a long day!
A school I used to teach in used to ask students to use those bags instead of pencil cases for exams as there had been an issue with cheat notes and noise during exams, a lot of students bring every pen they own along with sweets and all sorts of other equipment in a pencil case so there can be an issue with noise when looking for a particular item, the clear bags work well as you can obviously see whatever you're looking for and the examiner can see you have nothing to hide :)
Oh yeah and that is the type of bag I meant, although there are more expensive ones available, they've the brand written on and all!!

I get where you are coming from
I have some of them at home
    The tesco ones :D
I would probably use it to put in my geometry set as I do not have the case of it :(

Are you a teacher? What subject/s do you teacher? Are you teaching JC currently?
Sorry for questions I just love teachers because they know everything about school and you rarely get a chance to ask questions(I am kinda shy) to your normal school teacher (obvs!!)

Ha I remember someone dropping one of those metal cases for a geometry set during my junior cert maths exam, maybe that's where my aversion to noisy stationery comes from! The clatter!
Anyway good luck with it :)

Since how long have you been teaching may I ask?
    You seem very young
I have never came across in my real life school situation where my teacher goes talking about his JC
It was only established in the 90's wasn't it ?

I'm not teaching in a school anymore but still give grinds, always makes me smile when students stress over things like how many pens they should bring when they should go STUDY!!! Seriously, don't stress the small stuff, just try to prepare the actual material for exams and you'll do grand, oh and bring a couple of glucose sweets and a bottle of water for when your mind goes blank an hour into each exam, gives you something to do other than freak out!

Re Junior Cert, yes it was only established in 1992 I think, which would mean most teachers under the age of 32ish did the Junior Cert

And yes a pencil case like the clear one you linked would do the job nicely

Ask the teacher session is over now, go to bed!

One more thing, sorry to bother you, you must be very busy
I just had started studying 2 days ago
And I like to achieve all A's and B's in the exams
    Can this be achievable??
I can get a course done for all my subjects within 2 weeks and I plan to get it 3 times done until JC...

You can bring a drink, many schools will not allow fizzy drinks (noise again, and potential for mess), water is best.
Most schools allow students to bring in a few sweets etc, chewy not crunchy (noise again!)
Your exam supervisor will tell you the procedure for bathroom visits, usually you raise your hand and point at the door, the examiner will make a note of the time you leave and return, a student exam assistant will walk to the toilet block and back with you
Re study, the A's and B's all depend on your personal potential and the quality (not necessarily quantity) of study you put in. What I mean by that is, half an hour testing yourself by answering exam-type questions in exam style conditions (i.e. not checking notes, only allowing yourself the amount of time per question you would have in the exam) is worth a lot more than half an hour reading over material. You can check marking schemes on examinations.ie to get used to the number of points you're expected to make, the level of detail needed etc.
I know it's not what you want to hear but most people get out of exams in terms of results, what they put in in terms of hard graft!
If you need extra paper raise your hand and the examiner will give you extra paper, remember to write your name on all extra sheets, graph paper etc, and remember to hand up all extra sheets with the answer book.

What the hell 8 subjects ???!!
Which school do you go to that offers 8 subjects tell me and I will be there right away

English- I always do my homework my teacher gives me(she gives tons of questions from exam papers)(that is my studying for this subject)Even the days I am sick I be sure to e-mail her asking for it.
But what I do plan to study around 3 days before the English exam is the following
    Debates,Letters,Reports,Reviews,Media
    Studied Dramas,Studied Poetries,Studied Fiction
    (Merchant of Venice,Poems,Cinammon Tree)
I only want to achieve a C/D in it as I am too lazy so I think I will be fine and I plan to do O level in the leaving cert sometime anyways

Maths- Learned all the theorems, I will learn how to do the constructions 1 day before the p2 exam as I hate construction.
Exam papers is the key for maths!!!
So I have done so far 2012-2009 p1 and 2013 to sample A in p2

Science- I have studied biology all

    Geog-1st year

    History-HAVE NOT STARTED!!
    Business-HAVE NOT STARTED!!
    Wood- HAVE NOT STARTED!!
    Metal-HAVE NOT STARTED!!

German-I do not plan to study, probably just have a quick look over some letters and verbs etc. 1 day before the exam
Italian-I do not plan to study, probably just have a quick look over some letters and verbs etc. 1 day before the exam
