    As the title suggests.
I started back exercising at the weekend. I managed 5km both days and did all the stretches and cool downs but I am paying for it today, in my ass and the sides of my thighs ouch!

    Any advice appreciated.

Foam rolling. foam roller, tennis ball, baseball bat or pastry roller. Google some youtube videos while you hydrate and rest.

By that, do mean you did 5k on Saturday and 5k on Sunday? That's a bad idea IMO, depending on how long you have been off exercise.

From my experience, if I was off exercise for an extended period, I would go back to it in baby steps. Leave at least a day (preferably two) of rest between jogging sessions until your muscles are used to it. Then after 2-3 weeks, you wouldn't be in pain after any runs and you can ramp up the exercise as you wish.

For your own sake, take baby steps if you are increasing distance and frequency of runs. Otherwise, you could be making yourself prone to injury, putting you back in square one.

Thanks a mil for the advice, yep I did 5k yesterday and the day before that. I am in bits and I was wondering would a light walk help or should I leave it now for a day or two ?
    Thanks

Do. You will feel much better after it. Even if it's just a ten min walk to the shop and back again, the smallest use of the legs will be good for you.

Regardless of whether I am in shape or not, running after a day or two in a sedentary state is not easy.

What does this have to do with the OP's query? Why not start your own thread rather than hijack someone else's?
