Seriously... I've texted STOP and all that nonsense. I've phoned them up and they have TOLD me I have been taken off but still they come...

So, now I dont eat their pizzas any more (after being a long time customer) and I'm raging about this constant, like every second day, texts they send.

Anyone else sign up for this Four Star Pizza bollox and are now getting spammed to death? I was abroad for a while and so they cost me 30 cent each to receive, which made it worse!

Four Star Pizza... if you like Spam on a pizza, give them a call. Or any access to your number, with or without your permission (which I never gave).

I ordered from them just the once (never again) and got bombarded for 6 months afterwards.

    Off Topic.

Your SP charges you to receive txts!?!?

I regularly get them off taxi companies and fast food places that Iv never ordered from. I must check to see if I'm being charged for them.

If somebody had their head up their ass they could be said to be wearing their ass as a hat.

Ah so it means that you're self absorbed....

I don't see how four star sending out loads of texts would make them self absorbed though.

If you've sent STOP to them, then they shouldn't be sending texts to you like that.

Try sending STOP again and keep a record of it, then when they text you again keep a record of that, and then sue them if you want :p.

Used to work in an office which did alot of text marketing, and making a log of who had replied STOP was THE most important thing to do.

Someone actually made a claim against the place when they continued to get messages from us (from the time before i worked there), thus the strictness when it came to the STOP message.

OP, it's probably a case of someone being lazy on their end and not keeping records.

Other than contacting the Data Protection folks I don't think there's anything else you can do.

Pizzas are up there with razor blades as being the biggest rip offs out there.

Would Comreg be the better alternative to the Data protection commissioner? There's a legal requirement for companies to provide a method of stopping spam messages.

I used to get them from a Gym was a member of five years ago - and the problem is that it's one of those messages that doesn't have a phone number, only a name, and no unsubscribe option. I phoned them three times and only after threatening comreg did they get off their backsides and take me off their list.

Seeing as you're now in the market for a source of Pizza goodness, may I suggest Steps of Rome: best pizza in Dublin, bar none. Was a time you couldn't get it delivered, but you can now (as I can attest):

Nope, but was getting pretty constant texts from Meteor until recently, even after they were recently fined by the Data Protection Commissioner for spamming marketing texts; my judgment, is that the DPC and ComReg are either neutered, or just don't care about marketing spam, so they are happy to be complicit in allowing it to happen on a wide scale (regardless of where it originates from).

It's my impression, that telecoms regulators in Ireland are pretty heavily neutered (allowing much bigger abuse than mere marketing spam texts), so the bigger the issue made of this the better, as would love to see companies (especially services providers, where they abuse regulations) slapped with gigantic fines, to wipe out 2x, any profits made from this spam and general flouting of regulations.

    You sure?

O2 don't charge you to receive texts abroad - only calls.

Get onto the Data Commissioner. They're very good, I had to put a complaint into them before and it was resolved well.

Checked that roaming text charge and it seems either I was high.. or its changed since then (admittedly its been about 2 years since I checked). So, thats something...

I'm going to talk to the DPC about Four Start Pizza because I get a text pretty much every day with a "deal" and twice on Fridays and Saturdays.

As for the rest of you, I warn you off Four Star Pizzas, its too late for me ... fly you fools! :)

There's no 4 Star pizza in my area so I don't get bothered by them but I'd say at least every 3 days I get a flyer from Dominos in the letterbox. FFS talk about overkill. There's absolutely no need for it. I'd put up a "no junk mail" sign but I think they look terrible and besides I do like to get some flyers, just not a million of them.

Constantly from the Four Star in Ballsbridge, after a single order when working late a few months ago, shite pizza... I miss Bistro Bianconi.

Thread caught my eye as I've just got another text from them today.

Sent REMOVE to 50050, curious now to see if I get the regular Tuesday meal deal text.

The bigger pizza chains aren't the best, but like any fast food you end up hooked on the muck. Moving back into the country and out of range of deliveries has saved me. Anyway, back on topic. The only way to deal with this is to kill the first born child of every senior member of the company. Only then will the curse be lifted.

I think it's great that Four Star Pizza are texting us to remind us of their great deals on pizza. How else would we know about Four Stars great food and at great prices too. This thread has made me hungry for pizza now, think I'll go for their MegaDeal.

    Thanks OP.

I decided to quit eating FourStar before I become obese. Text stop to one of their messages the other day and they immediately sent me a text again with the same offer

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,681 ✭✭✭✭P_1

SPAM (the "meat") on a pizza sounds vaguely tempting now that I think of it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,040 ✭✭✭paulbok

once you text 'stop' back to them, they have 40 days to remove you off their marketing lists. After that, they are fair game for stoning their windows, or making a complaint to comreg. I can never remember which.
Seriously though, how can it take 40 days to be removed off an electronic list?

The same way it takes banks 3 working days to make an electronic transfer. When it comes to their own stock/shares traders they can make them in milliseconds...

I actually like their texts but I only get one every Friday about offers for the weekend.

I just order a scorcher and ruin my bowels for the next few days.

Having the same problem. I don't even know how they got my number. Their text STOP number doesn't even exist. The messages won't send to 50050.

I have a solution though, my m8 works in a call center and they have access to the contact details of the companies that do this stuff for them. He's gonna get me the number and I'm gonna tell them to eat **** and knock it off. Il post the number for ya when I get it.
