Gallstone Removal

    Hi Everyone

I'm sorry if this is in the wrong Forum but just looking for some advice.

Since having my son in 2011, I have been suffering with Gallstones. I've been into hospital & to my own GP several times and eventually last April(2012) I was sent for a scan to determine if I had Gallstones or not, which I did. I then went for a Pre-Op Assessment last July(2012) and was told I just had to wait until I heard anything.

Thankfully, the hospital rang me today to tell me they would be taking me in next Wednesday for removal.

I was just wondering how soon after I have the surgery can I return to work? I work in a Nursing Home & it's a lot of heavy lifting, pulling & pushing. I'm having the surgery on Wednesday and would be due back in work on the Friday. They told me I won't know until I wake up whether it was Laproscopic or Open Surgery.

Anyone any idea on recovery times etc. Someone also told me I wont be able to pick up my little boy etc for a while. Is this true??

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    :)

Not being smart but your surgeon is the person to ask!

I'd say wait and find out for yourself how you are feeling afterwards, and how well the surgery went

I was sedated last year for a colonoscopy

Still managed to go out to Tripod that same night

    .
Shame the colonoscopy was the only action I got

Also not being smart, but I have tried that. Was the first thing I thought of. But any time I ring I'm told he/she is not available. Or when I ring Surgical Admissions they don't know the answer

I'm just trying to get a rough insight of what to expect so I can inform my employer. They need to know how long to "Provisionally'' get cover, until I can tell them for certain on Wednesday.

    Thanks for reply.
