Right, I've never done a SHC pools competition before so here goes nothing:

These are the rules I'll use for the All Ireland Senior Hurling Pools competition 2013 which will also encompass the Christy Ring, Nicky Rackard and Lory Meagher Cups:

1.Each Monday I will post up the fixtures for the coming week and by Tuesday or Wednesday I should have the league table of posters and points for the previous week just gone.

2.Late comers will be accepted but points will be forfeited for any games missed.

3.Predictions will be accepted and valid by throw-in time of the first game of the weekend.
Eg. This weekend, the first game throws in at 2.30pm on Saturday so predictions made for this game after this time won't be counted. Thanks to my brand spanking new mod powers, I can see original posts that have been edited, so feel free to edit posts after throw in time (as long as you don't edit games already played)

4.The points system I am using is pretty much the same as that used in the NHL pools. You get 2 points for predicting the winner of the game.
Should a poster predict within 2 points of the winning margin,that poster will receive 1 bonus point.
Should a poster predict a draw,the poster will receive 3 points and where a poster predicts a team to win but the result is a draw,the poster will get 1 point ONLY if the poster has predicted a winning margin of no more than 2 points.
I'll award one point if a person predicts a draw yet the result is a 1 or 2 point win for either side.
Needless to say if you predict a team to win and they lose you get no points.

5. Bonus points will be awarded at the end of the championship for the following correct predictions:
Munster and Leinster Champions.
All Ireland Champions and Runnners Up
Team relegated to Christy Ring
Christy Ring champions and runners up
Team relegated to Nicky Rackard
Nicky Rackard Champions and runner up
Team relegated to Lory Meagher
Lory Meagher champions.

6. Posters must predict provincial/AI/other cup champions and runners in their first post.

7. To cut out a lot of time, if posters consistently fail to post their weekly predictions, I'll remove them from the overall tables.

If anyone has any comments/suggestions on the rules, by all means let me know here.
Also, I'm entirely sure if there will be any relegation from Liam McCarthy to Christy Ring so if anyone can enlighten me, that'd be great.

Firstly, I mistakenly left out a part of the scoring procedure. I've added this part into it (it was in effect during the NHL pools as well):

I'll award one point if a person predicts a draw yet the result is a 1 or 2 point win for either side.

To that effect, Fireball07 and dirtyden got one extra point for predicting a draw when the result was a two point win.

Right, top scorers this week (and overall obviously) were Fireball07 and jjjd with 19 points each. But so many people got exactly 7 results correct that this means very little in the long run.

As usual, please let me know if I've made any mistakes.
Next week's fixtures will be along shortly.

Because of the short notice I gave before the championships started, anyone joining the game this week can still make their initial predictions (AI champion, Christy Ring champion etc.) up until the start of this week's games with no penalty.

To make things fair for everyone, those already joined can also edit these predictions (or post new ones) with no penalty up until the start of this week's games.
