I Just Committed a Horrendous Diet 'NO-NO'

    I'm on a strict diet.

I eat just brown rice and lean turkey. 6 times a day.

Today, at 7.05pm, I caved. I had my lean turkey. At least I did that much. However, as I opened my fridge to get the turkey I noticed something glistening in the corner. Superquinn, three cheese and spinach ravioli. It just looked so appealing. I don't know why I caved so easily but I did. I cooked it, I felt so dirty during those 3 minutes it took to cook. I didn't put sauce on it at least but I did use the whole packet. 250grams of guilt. I covered my shame in olive oil and then sprinkled a shameful dose of parmesan cheese. I then sliced the cooked turkey, mixed them together and ate it like nothing was out of the ordinary.

I am really ashamed of myself. Has my entire diet plan been derailed? How costly has this act of gluttony been? I can't even look in the mirror.

Why? Where is the fat and veggies?

    Are you being serious?

Firstly, I think you need to rethink your relationship with food, because you shouldn't be feeling "250grams of guilt". Ever. About anything. It sounds extremely unhealthy to think of your food as your "shame".

    Secondly, this:

    cooked turkey
sounds far more healthy than this:
I eat just brown rice and lean turkey. 6 times a day.

I checked out the new Aussie Bbq in Rathgar on way home today. A great white and chips gone in minutes.

No guilt. Just pure, unadulterated gluttony :pac:

I wouldn't be too worried about a bit of pasta!

You should be ashamed, your diet of brown rice and lean turkey 6 times a day is shocking bad.

Who cares what results you get if you are miserable?

Are you planning one eating only brown rice and turkey for the rest of your life?

    Don't diet. Make lifestyle changes.

Well then I actually pity you. You'd rather look good than be happy? That's sad.

Everyone wants to look good but what use is it when your are miserable.

You're also probably doing damage to your body depriving it of fats, vitamins, minerals etc that you'd get from veg and fats.

If this is not a wind up then I can relate...sorta

I spent a fair few years training fairly seriously in TaeKwonDo.

I got very into both it, and making weight for competition and just being fit and active in general.

I came up with (pre-internet days here lads) my own version of IF and Warrior Diet ;-)

I started by eating apples for meals except for dinners. Those I halved and had one before, one after training.

Then I dropped most of the spud/rice/pasta from my dinners and just ate the meat and veg. bits.

I stopped eating every second day, and sometimes over weekends did two and three day fasts (you can ignore hunger and it goes away)

I ended up eating apples and protein powder in milk for most of my meals, with some meat at my main meal, if I wasn't fasting.

I ended up 64 Kg at 5' 10" and was always cold, getting colds maybe six times a year, constantly had mouth ulcers and I had no life.

I looked well though (Ithought so), if a skinny pale blue person looks well... (I don't like the sun)

If I'd trained like that and eaten properly to support the training, I'd have had the six pack but been a lot larger and a hell of a lot happier!

As I say, there was no internet available then (dial up doesn't count) and if I'd known then what I know now...(grumble, young whippersnappers...don't know they're alive)

My point, turkey and rice can and will work, especially if you are like me and don't like change or new things (apple and water for breakfast and lunch for about six years)

It's a misery of an existence though, so much good stuff is available to us now, eat clean by all means but don't starve or mess up your health for "the Aesthetic".

Eat Paleo, eat Zone, but feckin' eat. Work, rest and fodder build bodies. What I was at just breaks you down.

You'll be glad to hear I eat a lot now and am quite happy, but I weigh almost double my "fighting weight" and should lose four stone odd :o

My wife and two kids don't mind too much, but I will lose for health reasons this time, not just to look a certain way.

I hope this wasn't too preachy, not meant that way.
Just don't make the mistakes I made and put your health at risk.

About 72Kg, not the smallest I ever was.

Pretty boney, no need of it. I could have been as lean and eaten plenty.

I found an easter egg in the press and ate it while on the toilet. I wasn't using the toilet at the time, it just felt like the right place to eat the chocolate egg.
