ENGL Fireball - Retube

    Hey all,

It's about time to get my ENGL Fireball re-tubed. Just wondering if anyone knows if there's somewhere in Dublin that'll look after this? I'm reluctant to bring it to any of the music shops as they forever to get anything done (from previous experience).

Any recommendations for particular tubes? I play Death / Black metal style. First time replacing the stock tubes.

    Any help would be appreciated.

It might not be necessary to bring it to an amp tech. If it's just like for like then it's as simple as changing a lightbulb.

What does a full re-tube cost these days and what about re-biasing?

Martin Nolan in Beaumont gets my vote.

If you're just retubing the preamp section you can do it yourself, like changing a light bulb.

If it's a full retube including power tubes, then you'll probably need to have the amp re-biased, otherwise the plate voltage will be too hot or too cold, and you won't get the full life out of your tubes, and they won't sound as good.
