Some really nasty gusts out there that precede heavy showers of hail, somewhere in the region of 40-50 knots at a guess.

Showers easing off in Castlebar at this stage with winds also easing. There was some very strong gusts in the hail showers today as mentioned above. Temperatures also dropped like a shot during the heavier showers.

Just had a pretty epic hail shower, would definitely have hurt to be out in it. Shower ending and no doubt will be warm and sunny again in the next 10 minutes.

Dying shower arriving here now. More interestingly, a small but extremely potent cell popped up about a half hour ago between Drogheda and Julianstown. It's about to hit Balbriggan and appears to be still gaining strength

In Cobh the day was dry except for a light shower around 8 pm. It was dull enough though.

Summer? Well we are that far north I guess this is summer. The jet getting stuck thing seems more likely.

Yes indeed. It seems that the scattered clouds that have been coming down from the North East have been arriving and depositing rain in the form of thunder and lighting outbursts, as those clouds have picked up increasing moisture and been formed to deposit rain as a result of the cooler weather down here.
