shin splints

got new shoes today, was wearing them all day and foolishly ignored the warning pain in my left shin before I went to play squash

it's in agony atm and I'm just wondering (without asking for any medical advice) what the best way to deal with this is. I haven't had shin splints in a good while and never as bad as this.. should I just stay off it until it isn't sore anymore, even if that lasts into tomorrow.. or would a gentle stroll around town in the am be good to loosen it up

remember.. not asking for medical advice.. shared experiences, street wisdom.. that kinda thing

I had this problem before and after some reading I came across this method

Get a golf ball and use your foot to move it around for 5mins on each foot, can be bare foot or with socks, do this a few times aday for 2 weeks

Sounds wacky but it actually works

I had shin splints for a long time.Bio-Freeze is good for temp relief but your better off staying off it and going to a sports therapist and getting them rubbed out.Its agony but worth it

I used to get shin splints all the time until I started stretching the soleus muscles, it gave me almost instant relief
