Can anyone tell me if there is a certain order in which to use the steam and sauna rooms?
I use the gym and like to pop into them after I'm finished, for my skin, before showering.
How long should I spend in each?, which should i go into first?, should i go in wet or dry? Etc Thanks

Prefer the sauna to the steam, and just get a cold shower before you go in.As long as you feel comfortable,an hour or two:)

It's hardly worth your while for 5 or 10 mins, just saying.Could you not even spare a half hour.

    Steam then Sauna.
Cool down with a cool shower before sauna, but dry yourself off.
Aim at 10-15 minutes at first, then longer - the idea is to sweat.
Cold shower then relax for at least 10 minutes before repeating.

But if you are required to wear swimming togs I would skip the whole thing, disgusting inhaling other peoples sweaty togs. Other Europeans think the UK and Ireland is insane for doing this.

I've never seen anywhere in Ireland that you can go into naked so to say skip it is stupid. How do you know shorts are sweaty? Most shower beforehand, not all unfortunately.

How is it hardly worth your while? If you're doing this as a "weight lose method" you need to do some research.

I use the sauna to cut weight for competiton and can be in up to 2 hours just to lose a few kg,5 or 10 minutes is a not enough time to lose weight.Your the person coming on a forum asking for advice then telling me to do some research, are you thick or what.

The OP specifically stated that the purpose of using these facilities was for their skin so I think your first "research" stop should be the original post.

And i said 5 or 10 mins is a waste of time, you won't get the benifit of the sauna/steamroom for skin or weight.

You're just dehydrating yourself doing this, as soon as you drink again that weight will just come back.
Dehydration is also terrible for your skin so that'd probably the worst possible advice you could have given.

I dont see how this happens? even if they were sweaty any evaporation will just be of water from the togs? the salts and wastes in the sweat will be left behind on the togs surely?

I think that is why he is doing it lol! To make a weight in!

I like to spend 20-30 mins in the sauna only. One cold shower half way through!

    Ah, different to my own.

In Sanshou the weigh in is an hour before the fight, so this would be absolute torture for me. :p

To make weight for what competition?

What sort if benefit do you think an hour in sauna has for weight loss, for somebody who wants to drop a few pounds but doesn't compete in any sport?

Bjj competition. It has pro's and con's but if done properly you could sure lose weight and keep it of,just have a limit on the fluid's you take in such as taking ice cubes. It works for me that's not to say it will work for others.

Dehydrating to make weight for bjj is a bit strange. Usually the weigh in is before the first match so you can't rehydrate. How much ste you cutting?
Performances is generally better at a more natural weight.

And cutting weight in a sauna has zero affect of permanent weight loss. It's a temp loss to make weight for comp. Your body will rehydrate as soon as it can. You can't keep it off, and it doesn't help you lose fat.

Or of the lads in my club went mad dropping weight before our last comp'. Not eating right, dehydrating himself and taking load of laxatives.
He got the weight down alright but at a big cost, he said he only felt like half the fighter he usually is.
Needless to say, he said he won't be doing it again.

The idea is to sweat but then you're worried about inhaling "sweaty togs"?! How do you inhale togs? You inhale sweat and that will happen whether people are naked or not...

Maybe they are thinking of the smell of chlorine that rises if someone has been in the pool first?
