On amazon.co.uk currently retailing at £74.00
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Angelcare-AC401-Movement-Sensor-Monitor/dp/B0013FW5G8/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1366748282&sr=8-2&keywords=angelcare

Join Amazon family (it's free for 3 months, you should cancel before the three months are up otherwise a charge of £49.00 for the year applies). Amazon family give you £10.00 off your first order and 20% off Angelcare monitors (until 30th June). The 20% discount will be shown automatically when you add the monitor to your basket but you might need to wait 24hrs for membership to kick in (they say up to 48hrs on the website but in my case it only took less than 24hours).

    Final result: £74.00 - 20% - £10.00 = £49.2 which translates to around €58.00

Current retail price in Argos and Smyths €99.99

    Enjoy!

    Magic

I have been keeping an eye on the same one but with 2 monitors, currently 99 but was 79. Hoping it comes back down!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,728 ✭✭✭brightkane

I tried it there and it gave me the £10 discount but not the 20%. I must need to wait a bit longer

it took a day or so for my amazon family membership to come through after applying. you should get an email confirmation.

great monitor anyway, we got 2 of them in the end and keep one with our travel cot. you set both monitors onto the same channel and then you can pair both handsets with the one monitor and they will both work with both monitors as long as only one is on at a time (as ours are).

that way we have the benefit of the 2 monitors and chargers, but don't have to take the pad and monitor to bits and out of the cot when we're travelling, just take a handset and a charger and the other monitor and pad are ready to go. :)

The Amazon family deals really are great for baby monitors and worth keeping an eye on. I picked up this Tommee Tippee for £33.01 at the end of January. Had to buy some baby wipes also to get the purchase up to a level that the discounts all applied - but hey who doesn't need wipes if they have babys.

For any of you whose budget doesn't far enough for the Angelcare then Amazon currently have a Tomy TD300 for half price @ £33.31 (incl Irish VAT).

How long after signing up for Amazon Family did it take for you guys to apply the 20% discount for the monitor? Ive just signed up half an hour ago, got email to confirm, but it still only gives me 10 pounds off the order.

EDIT: I see it now it says it can take up to 48h after joining. Ah well i just hope it wont go up in price in the meantime.

    Guys

just to add its currently £66.66 - the lowest its ever been

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Angelcare-Movement-Sensor-Monitor-Deluxe/dp/B0033XABR8?SubscriptionId=AKIAJ7T5BOVUVRD2EFYQ&tag=camelalerts-21&linkCode=xm2&camp=2025&creative=165953&creativeASIN=B0033XABR8

    previous lows were 80 sterling.

Signing up to family care with amazon should give an additional 20% off and then en extra 10 off, taking it to about 43 sterling, a great price. considering the unit with just one parent unit is around 100 euro here

Just fyi it's GBP 66.66 (not EUR) :)

How do you get the extra 10% on the top of 20%?

Also what do people think of http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B004E9SWQ2/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE .
I prefer to have a camera so that I can see the baby. any feedback?

unless you have somewhere convenient about 1-2m from the cot that gives you a clear view of the baby then I'd give it a miss, as you won't be able to place the monitor properly to get a good enough view for it to be any use, particularly given that the lead doesn't appear to be long enough to do that.

what i did was get the angelcare 101 with the sensor pad and then get a wireless nightvision webcam that could be wall mounted and have that up on the wall above the cot looking directly down on it so we can see a clear view. that plus one of the many free apps for viewing wireless cams and you're sorted with a better quality solution for less money overall.

If I add the monitors it comes out at £68.33 (inc. IE VAT), but there's a discount of £25.00 for Amazon Family. So £43.33 total delivered. Great value. Thanks brightkane !

20% off an order is gone according to the website. All you get is 20% of nappies. am I correct?

hmmm. it's doesn't say anything other than 25GBP Amazon family discount. Right at the very end, where you can review order before purchase.

Right, I subscribed to amazon family and went to check out. It wants to charge me 68£ and change so obviously no discount there. Should I wait few days?

For anyone looking for a camera to monitor their baby get one of these
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Wireless-camera-Pan-Tilt-2-ways/dp/B00432J56G/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1379108805&sr=8-1&keywords=ip+camera

I have a few setup in the house, they're the business... Full pan n tilt, night vision + more.. I use one in the babys room and have one at the front n rear of the house. Can be a bit tricky to setup depending on which one u get, some have cack instructions but if u have a read of the reviews on amazon there's a few people that post great step by step guides..

This showed as I went to checkout:

    Your available balance
    Use your £25.00
    •£25.00 Promotional balance

Then at the 2nd last page before confirming it reads:
    Promotions applied: •Family discount

I presumed everyone got the same discount - odd!? :o

this is the one i got, but that was about 2 years ago now, i'm sure there's better to be had, although this one served us very well.

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/D-Link-DCS-932L-Securicam-Wireless-Network/dp/B005496WPY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1379258037&sr=8-1&keywords=dlink+ip+camera+dcs-932l

only thing i would say is that it could have done with a longer power cable so it can be put higher up as the one that comes with it isn't very long (maybe 5ft max).

Did anyone else order around the same time? For whatever reason, I seem to have received the "deluxe" version of the AC401. It basically has an extra monitor. (this one). Total cost ~45GBP delivered. Score!

They were both at the same price anyway. I've bought the deluxe one and saw that the one with the single monitor was only cheaper by a couple of cents.

    Prices have changed now.

FYI: There was a recall on these last year:
    http://edition.cnn.com/2013/11/22/health/baby-monitor-recall/index.html

The updated version comes with a rigid cable cover.

There is a kit is available here for existing owners:

The twin one of these is down to 80 on amazon.

I have one already and it was a camel camel camel price alert that told me about this price drop.
He'll of a lot cheaper then any ireland retailer.
Handy to have 2 units so u out are not plugging one out and moving it about.

the recall was bullsh1t. You'd have to be entirely devoid of any intelligence our common sense AND use it without reading the instructions and purposely in the most dangerous way possible to do any damage with it.

Unfortunately, people like that DO exist, hence the recall.
