Your favourite / recommended product and smoke ?

    Hi guys,

I am about to buy my first electronic cig.

I smoke Lucky Strike (blue packet) but when I was in Eire I smoked John Player Blue.

Can you please recommend a device to use that might suit along with a juice ?

My biggest concern is that I still want to feel the "HIT" in my throat and I'd like it to taste more like tobacco than fruit.

Thanks in advance for your recommendations.

This question may have been asked a thousand times but I'd really appreciate any suggestion you may have.

Where are you based now? Our juice choices might not be available wherever you are if good ol' Johnny Blue isn't available.

I visit Eire often enough to get my supplies or alternatively maybe I could get them here in Spain.

At €4.20 for a pack of Lucky Strike it's too easy to smoke here.

So to answer your question ...... I can get my juices in Eire if needs be.

I am a John Player blue smoker, and I've settled on 'Cognac Tobacco' from Ovale Ireland (they've a site and a walk in shop in Dublin City Centre). It's lovely stuff and hits the spot. It's the 16mg variety, plenty of throat hit and good flavour. They also let you try a few different ones in there which may help.

Liqua do a nice plain tobacco too. I tried one called Ankara Tobacco and it is absolute arse, it's just horrible to me. I'm not a fan of the chocolate / sweet ones still, despite a fierce sweet tooth.

The 'Cigarellos' is recommended all over the shop for a tobacco flavour, but I haven't tried it.

two very nice but very different tobaccos

    more honourable mentions

i'll leave the devices to other people

the hit from the juice is caused by a couple of things but the nicotine strength of the liquid is the main one. 18mg at least if you're looking for a good throat hit, most people will get by on 18mg anyway

The Cigarillos and Puros that Digby mentioned give that nice hit. 1st Choice is the most ciggy-tasting bought juice I've had.

+1 for Cigarillos. Been my all day vape since I started really. Off them 7 months now and was a 20-25 a day John Player Blue smoker.

    All great info and thanks.

Any suggestions for the device / fake cig ?

    Keep the opinions coming too.

    It depends on your budget.

I'm using an Ego C battery (650) which are about 15 quid each, and it lasts me all day in work. I have a 900 mah Ego C Twist that I use less. It's bigger and the Variable Volatage doesn't do much for me. I'm using a few clearomisers (I think T2 type) for the liquid. It's a fiver for a clearomiser so I buy 2 or three and use them up and chuck them out (I know I can just replace the head but meh don't like fiddling).

If you've cash to spend the Provari is 220 quid :O but looks pretty amazing!

It's gas how it reels you in!!

I remember we were trying to convince you to give vaping a go and now you're looking at provari's!

I have visited the Store stream shop in Vigo. They have a fine selection of gizmos but they are lacking in flavours and they are quite expensive. So I am going to continue ordering from e-smoke.ie.They're cheaper, have a great selection of everything and I don't have to leave the house.

    Nice one. Thanks.

Does the price differ greatly as it does with the real cigarettes ?

For example, I think A pack of 20 are about €9 in Eire but are €4.20 here.

    Forgive my ignorance.

So the Ego C battery (650) is the actual device that delivers the hit ? The fake cig ?

I'd like something that has two rechargeable batteries as I can then take a spare one (battery) with me on a night out.

The eGo is one type or style of battery (cigar-width), the device that screws onto the battery is an atomiser. Dependng on form factor and features the basic ones are called atomisers (you have to drip a few drops into these whenever you want a vape), cartomisers (you soak the filler inside with juice and you don't have to fill again for a few hours, or you can get a tank that surrounds it and feeds the juice to it) or clearomisers (these are a tank with wicks exposed to the liquid drawing juice to the coil, ready to be vaped).

Yeah it was a rather dodgy start. I haven' totally quit the smokes though. I'm on about 5 a day, though it varies madly. I was on 15 - 20 so that's a great start.

I think every now and then I get a bit bored and lazy so I need to get some new stuff to keep the interest up. Money is tight though so I'm just getting little bits here and there. I want a Kanger Protank I think, but will wait for a bit.

I doubt I'd spend that much on a Provari to be totally honest, but they're pretty nice piece of kit that said.

I'm going to pop to Ovale again next week see about some cartos or some new clearos and a different liquid.

Personally I go for the top filling (t2?) clearomisers with a long wick, and they last me several weeks, I then chuck them and buy a couple of new ones. The Ego C battery is going strong for a a couple of months now, nice and handy. I just charge it USB in work. Nobody seems to notice me vaping at my desk which is cool.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,305 ✭✭✭Green Hornet

If you want to stick with the clearo route the protank is the way to go if you can. It's very very easy to fill and the SS is very solid and screws together very easily and securely. The glass tank improves the flavour and the whole construction is excellent. The protank is moving into the non disposable bracket really, as opposed to the plastic or cheaper ones, apart from the heads themselves. It should last for months and months Id imagine, maybe longer. It will save you money in the long run.

I should add that I generally detest all things clearo with a passion so its a big statement for me to make!!

I still only use eGo Twists. Never felt the need to splash out on bigger mods cos it does what I need and is small and tidy and easily charged.

Re device, I'll most likely want a non disposable.

    A pack of 20 = €0.80 here :-o

t'was Very difficult to try to keep me off them for the first while - yes vaping is generally more expensive than smoking, however uptake is higher than I think just about anywhere else I've seen or heard of.

Will the protank work with ego batteries?
I vaped for 5 mnths last year, but ended up back in the smokes. But looking to quit again :-)
My fave back then was ego-t with dc smok cartomiser..nothing could match it..but used way too much liquid with it.
    Thanks Frank

Since starting vaping ( 6 weeks now), In terms of money I make a slight saving, maybe about 3 euros a week. So far a 30mill bottle last me a bit more than two weeks and including postage, it works out a bit cheaper than the ten euros on a I was spending packet of Golden Virginia and papers (which cost around a euro a packet here in Spain). But truth be told, I feel great now. I can breath through both nostrils now which is something I thought I had a problem with. My teeth are staying white after I wash them. I don't stink of fags. I can breath deeply and smell roses at fifty feet. I could go on and on about it but I won't.

As for device, I am using a Kanger T2 starter kit with a which I brought through e-smoke-Ireland for 30 euros. I'm delighted with it. I might up grade sometime in the future but for now it really does the job.

I'm not too bothered about the cost. I'm more interested in buying the right device to deliver the hit and the right juice so I feel like I'm getting a hit on my throat as I smoke.

    No problem :)
When I started vaping, I used RY-C10. It has a tobacco/caramel flavour. It taste and smells great and produces lots of vapor and most importantly it gives you a fair auld kick in the back of the throat.
I would recommend it for someone new to vaping.

    Good specific info. Thanks.

I see you're in Spain as am I.

We know the price difference in cigs between Spain and Eire is massive - €4.20 instead or €9.20 or in and around that.

How does the cost of vaping differ between the two countries in your opinion ?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 266 ✭✭Eileen Down

At the moment for me it cheaper to order from Ireland. I haven't tried ordering online from as Spanish site as yet. I have visited a shop in Vigo as I mentioned before. The price of the liquids was about a euro more than you would pay buying from Ireland but then I have to add the cost of petrol (I live 30 km outside Vigo) parking and of course the essential visit to a cafe.
So even including postage from Ireland it works out cheaper. I don't imagine there is much difference in the price of postage when ordering from a Spanish site, although your order will most likely will get to you a few days sooner.

No problem. The humble eGo works with most stuff that you'll find in the stores so long as you get LR.

Try to keep the resistance of the cartos or the clearo heads 2 or a bit lower. Use LR versions of the cartos or heads. Probably better to get an eGo Twist or 2. I think the protank comes with 2.5 ohm heads though so you'd need either an eGo Twist or 1.8 ohm versions of the heads for those.

well after two days of research and a wrecked head..im thinking i should upgrade batteries and maybe move away from joytech and invest in a mod like the vamo vv..would that be a good choice? at the price( avg. 40e)

Cant go wrong with a vamo at that price but try and get the ss version, then again the telescopic zmax looks good at 60euro, when it comes back in stock!!(if it ever was in stock??)
Sorry zmax is 65euro, my bad :-)

    Hi.

Update. I'm still smoking cigs but only when I drink so its completely a habitual activity.

Can somebody recommend a start up kit that most resembles my smoking experience which is all about the throat kick and the visible smoke / vapour.

I understand the strength of the nicotine determines the feel of the throat hit but is there a fairly low nicotine product that still delivers a throat kick AND plenty of smoke / vapour.

So start up kit and supplier recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

The kanger twist starter kit from www.e-smokeireland.eu can't be beaten in my opinion....

Well I'm sure it can be beaten, cos I haven't tried anything else :D

But it is excellent, and recommended by lots and lots on here and elsewhere....

Juicewise, I use El Toro Virginia Prime when having a few beers, it's the only one I found that I could vape while drinking Guinness!!! Grwat throat hit and clouds of vapour, vaping it on a protank.

EDIT, there's loads (55mls) of free juice with that kit too so you can get a few different samples and try them out.

Another thumbs up for the kanger twist starter kit from ESI. Got one for my mother in law recently and it's an excellent starter kit. Get the 900mAh twist batteries. I would add some more e-liquid and also a 5 pack of 1.8ohm evod coils and you should be well set for a couple of months.

A bottle of El Toro virginia prime would be worth getting, well for me it's the only "tobacco flavoured" juice i liked. But it's 26 quid! But it's a 60ml bottle.

Don't forget to put boards into the discount box for the 10%

Yeah. €26 is too much to punt on a flavour.

They are all about the wingnuts of which I'm allowed to order 5 flavours in the start up kit.

Just wondering what wingnut juices people think might resemble John player blue or indeed just a flavour they like.

Once I find what I like ill be happy to pay €26 per juice.

Also, do I just enter 'boards' for the 10% off ?

That's what I mean, I didn't really like any of the wingnuts tobacco flavours...

They have RY4, Virgina Fire cured, Honey Wood... you could just ask them for a selection of tobacco flavours....

Everyone will tell you the same thing, you really need to try the flavours yourself before you will know what works for you...

Having said that, I don't think there are many that didn't like virginia prime...

yes, just put boards into the box, an click update total (I think) for the 10%

Good luck, there's plenty of trial and error when starting out (I'm only at it about 8 weeks myself).

However, it's a small investment when you think that 60ml bottle is cheaper than 3 boxes of fags but could last you up to a month :D

You can get the kanger EVOD starter kit from vaperus or the best shop.

    http://www.vaperus.ie/basic-vaping-kits/192-kanger-evod-kit.html

    http://www.thebestshop.eu/shop/kanger-evod/264-kanger-evod-starter-kit.html

I think the evod is thought to be the best of the kanger clearos (apart from protank/protank mini). You won't have variable voltage with this kit but its not a big deal starting out if you ask me. You can always get a twist battery later as the evods will fit on them fine. You get some replacement coils in the kit too.

There's no sample juice with it from either place though.
