Genius promotion in fairness to them. It'll sell both consoles and games for them, all for a digital download.

Pretty sure they're kicking themselves for not jumping on digital download money boat sooner! They certainly seem delighted at how well their digital sales are going at the minute.

Sweet deal. Might have to do some trading to get me a couple of them. Luigi and Fire Emblem, probably, if I can find anything valuable in my box o' games. Then torn between DK and Animal Crossing for the freeb.

I'd recommend Monster Hunter to any one stuck for the free game. The demo was terrible. It doesn't explain how to play or why you'd play it. It also gives you 2 fairly boring fights with gear you didn't earn and don't understand how to use. The game itself, while slow to start, is epic. It reminds me very much of going Paintballing, or a Nuzlocke run on a Pokemon game - you don't just play the game, you come back with stories. Yes it's a grind-fest, but by golly it's a fun grind.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,571 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

Make sure the games you get during trading have the red inserts with the scratchy panel. That's the code you need to register with. I expect most 2nd hand copies won't have this.

Luigi's mansion any good? Was intending to get 2 games on that list and tempted by a 3rd, a free decent download would put me over the edge.

Castlevania's the other one I'm going for.

I heard it was tits, and not in the nice way... I am trying to register fire emblem on website, but it is so slow!

    And Mr. E, Cheers bud.

Nah, it's pretty good. I know Mr. E enjoyed it as well. It's not as good as the traditional DS or GBA games, or SOTN, but some of the reviewers were way too harsh on it.

If you haven't played the Wii version, I'd highly recommend Donkey Kong. It's a really good 2D platformer, I'm considering picking it even though I've already played it.

Well, both games registered on nintendo club. I need one more game for promotion. Problem is the only one game I want of that list is Luigies mansion. I almost wished they would let us choose one of older games too. :(

Very little begging going on for one of these threads... Seeing as how no one else seems to want to do it, allow me :) :

If you are not a club Nintendo member, have no intention of partaking of this offer but have recently bought a game on the list, worry not! I will gladly take your club points code off you so you don't have to worry ceaselessly about it. You're welcome!

(edit:I might have club points to trade, now I think about it, from a 3DS handset and pokémon white)

    *

    @shadowhearth
Is the game code tied to your account? I thought they were just redeemable eshop codes. If that's the case you could just pick the most tradable title on the list and see if you can wangle a few oldies from the trade thread

You redeem those codes in Nintendo website. You just enter then and they hook up to your account. Good idea on trade in. Might check GameStop second hand games and see what is the cheapest title I can get. I doubt many people using out codes. Lads in local GameStop won't have problem to check if code is scratched off.

I think he means that the code you get for the free game is just an eshop code that you could trade with someone.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,485 ✭✭✭✭Banjo

Exactly - if you're not interested in any of the free games, get a code for the game you think you have the best chance of trading on, and swap it for an oldie or two in the 3ds trade thread. (I hope you like Pilotwings ;) )

This presumes that the code you get for the free title is a generic eshop code that any one can redeem rather than one specific to your account.. The former seems more likely given they could just activate the game on your eshop profile to stop you trading/selling it

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,835 ✭✭✭✭cloud493

I've registered luigis mansion and fire emblem, and castlevania  If I have any codes left after that, I might be generous and post them here :pac:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,507 ✭✭✭nitromaster

I'll also throw in the begging request haha.

Will swap Club Nintendo codes, or gift you wii shop content if either of those work for you! (1000 Wii Points of content per code seems fair)

    Great deal though :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,067 ✭✭✭Gunmonkey

Asked to check the 2nd hand Luigis Mansion in Gamestop while getting other games there, damn Club Nintendo code was the only piece of paper not in it...had to pay €3 at Argos for a new copy...OH THE HORROR :P

Tempted by Castlevania, if only it wasnt €50 new in GS. To the internets....

Can someone who got the 3ds console version of fire emblem answer did the game that came on it count as the one of three?

I'm not definite (I don't have the bundle myself) but this seems to indicate that it does:
    Step 1
Register any three of the above games (either a boxed copy from a retail store, a Download Version from Nintendo eShop on a Nintendo 3DS or Nintendo 3DS XL linked to your Club Nintendo account, or as part of a Nintendo 3DS / Nintendo 3DS XL bundle pack) with your Club Nintendo account by 11.59pm on 30th June 2013

    From the FAQ:
Do Nintendo 3DS / Nintendo 3DS XL bundle packs that come with pre-installed software count towards the promotion?

Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo 3DS XL bundle packs that include pre-installed versions of games come with two Club Nintendo registration codes: one for the hardware and one for the software. Registering the code for the pre-installed software, providing that software is one of the eight eligible games, counts towards the three games required to claim a free download code.

If we're wheeling and dealing here I'd love a luigi's mansion 2 code for my sealed and boxed NSMB2 game. ;P

If sticker star was in the list, I'd go out and buy them along with maybe monster hunter, but nothing else on the list even remotely speaks my language.

ah... If some kind souls would give me one code, I would get myself a free Luigies mansion... I would give that person lots of hugs! :p

I wonder can you take same game that you used to get promotion as a code? lets say i got MH3, Fire emblem and Luigies mansion. So i would take another MH3 code etc?

Yeah you can. It's mentioned you can get a game you already have in the FAQs on the site (See here). Also, I've registered mine and I had a choice of all eight for the free game.

If you changed your username to something girl-ish sounding, and got a female avatar, you'd probably have a load of codes by now.

I'm tempted to make a second club Nintendo club account. Since il be buying all those games anyway.

I didn't get the Fire Emblem console after all, bad week for me with preorders last week, Gamestop let me down on this and XTRAVISION on a special edition of Injustice on PS3, Gamestop are still trying to source me the console though, glad I bought a spare Fire Emblem game to tied me over, what a game.

If you've selected DKCR as your free game in the Too Many Games promotion, log into your Nintendo account now to get the code (you don't have to wait for an email).

It's displayed at the top of the screen once logged in. :)

    It's about 2gb to download.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,485 ✭✭✭✭Banjo

Did that just go live now, or has it been up all night and you only saw it when you logged in to complain about not getting an email code? I ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,571 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

No idea. I was googling to see if anyone had received a code yet, and found a thread on NeoGaf where someone said that the code was on your CN account. Happy days. :)

Can't decide between getting a free FE:Awakening or Luigi's Mansion. Anybody got some advice, I've played both series and enjoyed them both so I'll probably end up getting them both eventually but I can't figure out which one is best to have a permanent download of. I hear there is online play with Luigi's Mansion so that leads me to believe that I can play it indefinitely, and Fire Emblem is probably more finite? More importantly to me, is Luigi's Mansion suitable for short bursts of play, like on a 10 minute bus journey?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,571 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

Both are really good games in their own right. Depends on what kind of game you're interested in - a fun (and funny) arcade-style game or a great strategy game.

FE has a good bit of DLC and Luigis multiplayer will wear out sooner rather than later. I think FE has more longevity.

Depends on what you want to play, but both are worth owning.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,485 ✭✭✭✭Banjo

Fire Emblem may have finite gamepad but it's whole a lotta finite. Of the two its the one I'd be more likely to play a five minute burst of, it has a limited free dlc map that is invaluable for shameless looting and exp grinding and has streetpass support so the sooner you activate it the better; ts got better replay value with three difficulty levels (6 if you decide to iron-Man it). Also Luigi may hold its value as a cart better.

    Both are excellent though!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,693 ✭✭✭Deano7788

Just to let people know the e-mail only came at 8am this morning so you're much better off getting the code from your Club Nintendo account.

Re Luigi's Mansion and Fire Emblem. They're both excellent games. FE's single player probably has more longevity (although LM is far from short), while I'm not sure how long you'd be playing LM's multiplayer for, although it is fun. Whichever one you go for though, you can't lose.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,280 ✭✭✭RobertFoster

Anyone seen any good prices on the games in the promotion, or are they artificially inflated now because of it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 334 ✭✭jaydoxx

Thanks guys I'm gonna go with FE as the free download, Luigi will have to wait for a long, long time I suspect with all the gem's coming out now. Can't believe I actually can say that now, you're looking well 3DS :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,571 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

    I have a 3DS, 360, PS3, PC and Wii.
The 3DS is getting the most use by far.
I got Bioshock Infinite when it came out, but I've only played 30 minutes of it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,681 ✭✭✭Wolverine359

Anyone seen any good prices on the games in the promotion, or are they artificially inflated now because of it?

Pokemon Gates to Infinity is €32.97 on GameStop.ie, with dkcr3d and animal crossing (pre-order) for €34.97 each, just €2 extra for p&p if you order one or more together. You also get some trading cards with any Pokemon game. :)
