Is my breakfast actually decent?

    Right lads, I've recently started eating what I *think* is a pretty solid breakfast.

    It's filling and keeps me going for a fairly long time. If I just have cereal or toast or something like that I end up just being hungry again fairly quickly, which I know is normal. so I started eating this in the hopes it would be both more nutritious and more filling for longer.

    What I do is I take 2-3 pieces of fruit, lets say an apple and a banana (sometimes throw in a pear or a few mandarin segments as well) and I chop them up and mix them with 3 tablespoons of rolled oats and a big blob of lowfat natural yogurt and a teaspoon of honey.


    Is this a good way to get moving in the morning? Should I consider adding some nuts or seeds to this to add more protein or is the yogurt plenty in that regard?
    Is it just a bad combination all together (I'm fairly sure it's a decent breakfast, but open to being wrong)?

    Just from working out out roughly I reckon it's about 310 calroies, 65 grams of carbs, 3 grams of fat, 10-12 grams of protein and about 40 grams of sugar.


    Seems like a lot of sugar and fairly high calorie wise?

    A lot wouldn't agree with me, but I don't really worry about the amount of sugar coming from fruit as fructose seems to be the "healthiest" sugar type.

    If you want a solid breakfast, its hard to beat bacon and eggs :)

    You are adding a lot of sugar with the honey. Other then that its fine.

    Well I have it in my head that porridge is good for keeping me going as it is a slow release food. You have oats and that is what porridge is made from.
    After that, you have fruit and honey which have sugar.
    I don't know if this is right but I'd say the fibre in the banana probably also helps you feel filled.
    So, I'd say the oats and banana keep you filled while the sugar from the fruit and honey has your head loving the food.

    Dunno if the sugar is bad but everything else should be working to keep you filled and give you a good chunk of nutrition. The yoghurt might increase your mucus production (http://www.livestrong.com/article/323710-list-of-mucus-forming-foods/)

    This might be a stupid question but when ye say bacon do ye mean rashers? As I do love me some rashers.
