Budget is €2k but that includes negotiation. The car is for sale over 3 weeks. I betya if you waved €2k cash in front of the owner, one and only offer, he'd take it.

I want it too BTW :D

    My ads on adverts.ie:

Victron stuff for sale, Multiplus-II, Quattro, other inverters and batteries and usually some watches!

Love this line "Mature owner , No silly Learner plate modifications what so ever."

I'd say it's the only factory spec one in the country

    Hmmm,

The drivetrain of the V6 4x4 cars is made of chocolate and is über expensive to repair. That particular one is a very horrible shade of navy. Its bland as hell and tiny inside and the early ones had naff plastic interiors.

Personally, and I love Jags, I'd pass that one at any price as I reckon you'll be doing major work replacing the transfer box. And as TADTS you'll have your work cut out getting a used box.

See that's fair enough, I had no idea that model had issues with the drivetrain and maybe Id pass on it after hearing that but I'm not buying this "it's not a proper jag" bs.

New Alfa's are Fiats/Opels these days, Renaults are Nissans, Skoda's are Volkswagens. Doesn't make 'em a bad car.

People need to lose the badge snobbery and realise we're talking under a grand here, for all that car regardless of whether its a Mundeo underneath.

It's 4x4, manual so it's not a total dog on juice, has "reasonable" motor tax and it does look classy.

I know for the money they're asking Id certainly drive it!

See, I agree with the "for the money they are asking" bit. In the sub 1k category with reasonable tax it is probably the best car that will be available.

However it is a long way off the xj and the other jags of that era in refinement. It isnt even proper AWD, it is a front biased one afaik.

    It's a bit overpriced for a v6 :pac:

Did you go look? There was one for sale few months back with the head gone, I'm thinking its the same car but fixed?

It's hardly an unrefined car to be in though, and 30mpg is possible.

It isn't like other Jags of that era but most if them have €1809 tax which would make it pretty pointless if going down the bangernomics route. The XJ's etc being posted these days for €1k would have that tax rate and 20mpg max!

    I would like one though...:o

More like nissans are renaults rather than the other way around ,and in Nissan's case it kind of does make them a bad car.

Remember those old bluebirds and mk1/mk2 primeras. They were super reliable cars.

Contrast that to the last primera with it's stretched timing chains and weak gearboxes along with other issues. The same can be said for the newer micras and almeras also. They are nothing like their 100% Nissan built predecessors.

here here - I had an almera and it broke my heart. I got rid of ti after 7 visits to the garage in 8 weeks for seven separate problems

I think you're clutching at straws here somewhat missing the point entirely of my post.

When did Nissan and Renault join up together?

    99 aparently.

To be fair, the only reason we have the GT-R is because of Renault's boss taking over.
    I'd drive it. :pac:
