being as non biased as i can be the petrol mk4 golfs are soft ****heaps as are the 1.8 petrol mondeos.

edit : that levin is fantastic value for money! :)
Indeed you are correct that is what I meant apologies:o

Right lads, here's the ad for my banger, comments (of the type that will speed up a sale! :D ) welcome.

    Blastman's Bangernomics Sale

Picking up its replacement on Saturday, all will be revealed then....

nice add, price seems ok too. a good bangernomics entry :)

the biggest thing against your sale is that that is probably the most undesirable shape civic ever produced.

Yes they are not desirable at all compared to other Civics but that could work out better for the op as at least they won't have those little skangers with hoodies coming around to waste an hour or two kicking tyres :P.

In all seriousness though they are fine cars that are reliable and well built and who ever buys it will knock years out of it :).

good luck with the sale op.

The interior looks spotless for a 15 year old motor. Exterior is as you say in the ad, showing its age.

Taxed, tested, recent work done to her and priced right. Can't really fault it.

    GLWS! :D

mine is a vvti and doesnt burn oil. Oil burning question is about the mondeo

A lot of the Toyota VVTi engines were rebuilt as far as I know - and I think after about 05 they made improvements to the issue. So in theory - any car built after 05 - or that had a new engine from Toyota after 05 should be less likely to have the oil usage issues.

Don't know if they ever actually fully cured the issue though - but good to hear yours doesn't burn oil.

I think i might start checking the oil more often now.

power washing the engine bay would help that engine bay pic a lot! just wrap all the electrics / connectors in tinfoil!

im after my first non turbo, non vtec, non enjoyable family car as have a little one on way.. dont wanna go more than 1.4 for tax and dont wanna spend more than 1200.

been looking at 1.4 focus saloons, 1.4 octavias, 1.4 leons..

i know they wouldnt pull ya out of bed but thats what its come down to..

someone find me a bargain!! :) with nct

Some people are suspicious of overly-clean engine bays, to be honest. I know I've looked at one or two myself and wondered if the owner were trying to hide something.

If I come across any 1.4 non-enjoyable cars I'll let you know.... :P

i have an 05 Avensis 1.6 vvti, on its 2nd engine cos of oil use (previous owner didn't check it) - got a 3zz-fe from an 03 Corolla, likes a sup of oil for sure, id say about 1 liter per 1000km or there abouts.

Have a carina e also, the 4a-fe consumes no oil

Ok, there's no mention of test on this one. However, the offer of 3 month warranty would lead me to assume it either (a) has a valid test or (b) the seller will stand behind it passing a test if one's due. With an asking price of €1295 it has to be worth a call to someone in the market ...

Grille and wheel trims are wrong

please enlighten me as to whats wrong with the grill? it looks to me like it‘s the standard grill? I am however viewing it from a phone so cant be sure.

as for the wheel trims they are obviously aftermarket but they are hardly something you would dismiss a car over.

Not sure about the tax, but it wouldn't be a bad runaround.

To be fair they are going to take less than €1,650 for the second s type.
The first one looks like a proper bargain if it does actually have a FSH. Personally I don't like the look of them at all and very dated with those wheels! I'm sure they are lovely cars to be in though.

The XJ is the pick of the bunch there for me. Fairly timeless design and that one looks to have been well looked after too.:)
