probably not, you'd be running such a calorific deficit that you'd be going into "starvation mode" and your metabolism would eventually slow down big time.
I'd say the most you would lose healthily is a stone.

    Possible yes, easy no.

Three stone is 19 kilograms. If you consume 500 calories less per day, for 7 days, a weekly deficit of 3500, you should lose a pound of fat or 454 grammes, or just under half a kilo.

If, as well as a 500 calorie per day deficit, you also burn off 500 calories per day in exercise, over the course of a week, you should burn off another 1lb / 454 gr / just under a half kg, or a total of just under 1KG per week. In 9 weeks that would be a loss of just under 9 kilo and would put you half way towards your goal.

This is where my math becomes less precise, if you also start doing a weights program, you will burn additional calories, and pack on some muscle which will burn more calories in a day, taking you even closer to your target.

That sounds reasonably easy, but burning 500 calories a day in exercise is hard. Some examples of what you need to do to burn that kind of calorie count are:

    Play basketball for an hour
    Swim for an hour
    2 hours of house work
    2 hours of yoga
    40 minutes of skipping rope

Possible, yes, but starting that sort of intense regime, and sticking to it for 9 week, is unlikely, if you don't have experience changing behaviour and sticking to regimes, which as a yo-yo dieter, you probably aren't.

I know you've had this query closed elsewhere but for now Ill leave it open as you might just get some advice you'll listen to.

What you are enquiring about doing is not wise. Its crash dieting, which will see you pile on the weight again afterwards, that's if you do manage to lose it in the first place. There is no quick fix on this. For this kind of weight loss you have to get very smart about your diet, and work hard on your exercise, and even so, in 9 weeks, I dunno. Its a big lifestyle change.

But what's likely to happen is either you will give up after a week because its too hard and be even more despondant than before, or you will become weak, tired and unhealthy.

But if you were sensible, and looked beyond the next nine weeks, you could make a very sustainable changes, that would prevent you facing into this kind of panic again. And if you start now, sensibly, you could definitely have improved things a lot in 9 weeks.

I just hate to see people embark on a plan that you know is doomed to fail, which is why I would encourage you do take a more long term approach to weight loss.

Watch the documentary "Fat Sick and nearly Dead". It is very possible and safe despite what some people might say. It will be hard but it is possible.

If you don't change your ways afterwards then it will come back on but that is the way with any adjustment. A slow weight loss and lifestyle adjustment is the way to go if you have the time but if you want fast and quick results then give a juice fast a go.

I know you may want to lose three stone but trust me there is no event that important that you should put your body under immence pressure. Aim for a stone and a half. Which is just a little over 2lbs a week which is more maintainable long term.

And imagine if you lose a stone and a half just how different you will look and feel. You'd be at 12 and a half stone with is a nice weight for someone who is 5'7"

Best of luck with it! :)

Please don't follow this advice unless you want to be 3 stone heavier this time next year. Juice fasts are idiotic in the extreme.

How about you stop torturing yourself about your weight and go out and buy a new outfit that you feel wonderful in so you can actually enjoy your event instead of reeling from another failed diet. (Protip: a good bra - something that costs at least 40 euros - can take a huge amount of 'visual weight' off)

Maybe if you nailed yourself to tarmac road in the desert. Find something that is manageable and works for. Mods post is great advice

9 weeks is too short for this kind of loss OP. Take this one on the chin and plan for the future. There will be other occasions over the next year, pick one of them now and give yourself time to change your lifestyle. Remember how you're feeling now and use it as motivation in the future.

You can still lose a stone or more in a healthy way before this event, you will notice a stone loss and so will others.

    Hi
How about trying one of the slimming programmes in your neighbour hood. Like slimming world or weight watchers. They would give you guidelines for a balanced diet and recommend how to loose the greatest amount of weight in the shortest time. Good luck with it and I hope you enjoy your event

Again I would plead people to not try out these stupid extreme juicing diets. You will end up fatter than you started.

I guarantee you are above your ideal BMI...

Stop giving people negative advise, it is of no benefit.

    No it's not possible.

You said yourself you've been overweight since you were born. Assuming you are at least 20 years old, it means you've spent a minimum of 1,000 weeks becoming fat and want to undo it all in just 9.

Drastic, rapid weight loss is crash dieting. Whatever you lose now you will just put back on again plus more.

Instead of 9 weeks, look at the very least, 9 months. Diet and exercise need not be expensive, just takes dedication and discipline.

3 stone in just 9 weeks is too full on. I have lost 7 pounds since last Monday by eating less but not starving myself. This I believe is quite a big weight loss for one week so perhaps you could lose 1 1/2 stone to 2 stone in 9 weeks but don't aim for 3 stone you will be miserable and starving yourself. Just eat less, move more. Try eat no more than 1,200 calories per day. I have been eating 900 calories per day.

Last year i went from 13 to 9 stone in just under 2 months, went through a bad time and just couldn't stomach anything.

All i had was a nibble here and there and lived on water and smokes.

Not good and felt horrible, It ain't right and can be done. But wouldn't recommend at all.

that's terrible advice, the OP should be eating about 1,700-2,000 calories a day, and increasing her physical activity to create a calorific deficit.

You have been told multiple times in your own thread that 900 calories is not enough and now you are looking to pass your own bad habits onto others.

Actually I was advised to use myfitnesspal to count calories and log what I have eaten and exercise. It recommends having 1,200 calories per day.

EXCUSE me but I never suggested the op should take in 900 calories a day. Why don't you have a read of my posts again and again until you see that I recommended 1,200 for her. This is what myfitnesspal app suggests when on a diet. So before you start accusing me of passing on bad habits I suggest you take the time to read again and get your facts right.

No, but you helpfully pointed out you have lost weight while doing so and telling her "Try eat no more than 1,200 calories per day".

No decent website would suggest eating any LESS than 1,200 calories a day.
Perhaps you should read some nutrition literature yourself, including the advice given to you in your own thread, before dishing out "advice" to others.

are you the exact same height and weight as the OP? Because otherwise what that site supposedly recommended for you has zero relevance here.

She wants to lose weight, I'm telling her how I'm losing mine and I'm telling her 1,200 calories a day is what I have been advised by myfitnesspal. Yes I have been taking in 900 calories a day, right or wrong its working. And on MY thread I have been given good advise from a few posters about fats, etc.

The 1200 calories recommended by myfitnesspal is standard for anyone within a certain weight range that indicates they want to lose weight. It gave that to me too however I knew my BMR alone was about 1600.

Find a proper calorie calculator and work out your BMR (basal metabolic rate) and your TDEE (total daily energy expenditure) and go from there.

1200 cals will be fine for a few weeks and you will lose weight, but then you'll plateau. When you reach goal and return to maintenance cals of 1800+ calories per day your body will not be able to cope with such an increase and you'll gain weight again.

2000 cal a day seems a lot for someone trying to lose a few stone. I eat less than that & my weight is staying the same.
My sister recently done a 6 week programme with a gym incorporating nutritional advice, classes & weight training.
Her calories per day was 800 & of that she was only allowed 1/2 a Weetabix as her carb for the day. You would think a nutritionist wouldn't be advising anyon to eat 800 cals a day esp with classes like spinning included.
For me personally I have to eat 1200 a day & walk 30 minutes to lose 1 lb a week. Everyones body is different so one thing wont work for all

Are you 4 and a half stone and 4 foot tall? If not you are eating too little.

Eating feck all will work for a while. Then you'll feel like ****, have no energy, suffer muscle loss, hear loss, bad skin etc etc etc. Its not sustainable. Cop yourself on - you do not need to eat so little to lose weight. I really don't understand how people like to punish themselves so hard while at the same time setting themselves up for a huge failure.

2000 may be just right, it depends on your starting weight. 800 calories a day is criminal.

edit: this thread is old
