Been a while since we've had one of these threads. Everyone knows about the Japanese Police GTRs and the Italian LP570-4's etc. But now it's time for the latest from Dubai :)

Unfortunately it will be mostly used for show, but there's reports they'll be adding a few Camaros to their active fleet.

Used to see this around Stuttgart back in the 90's, I think there were a couple of them in service.

    554859d1311707042-polizei-porsches-polizei.jpg

This is the 1,000,000th Porsche ever built, given to the German police for promotional use in 1996. It was crashed at some point, a total write off then cosmetically repaired and placed in the museum in Stuttgart.

    4300837548_863ac20e55.jpg

And I got pulled in by one of these in Holland over 20 years ago on the Zuider Zee causeway, it's a Dutch motorway police 911.

Had the pleasure of riding shotgun in one of these. Boise, Idaho State Police.

The unmarked pursuit version is ridiculous under the hood.

Saw Cops in a new Focus Estate today. I thought it a bit of a strange choice. A normal Focus yes but the estate version?

If its space they were looking for I would have thought an Avensis or Mondeo estate would be more suitable.

    Maybe its cutbacks ;)

Estates are far more usable than saloons - I can see why they'd prefer it.

Though they already have a Dodge Charger, a BMW 5-Series, a Bentley, a Mercedes-Benz SLS, a Ferrari FF, and a Lamborghini Aventador, it appears as if the Dubai police department really just needed an Aston Martin One-77 just to make their collection really ..................

Presumably because an estate is much more practical than a saloon. An estate doesn't just offer more storage, the main advantage is that the available space is so much easier to get at.

    Interesting thread :)
Surely the Guards have some exotic cars too?
    Anyone have some pics?

Sorry my fault. What I meant to say was Mondy or Avensis estate, like I did above only you missed it the first time ;)

You wouldn't see him though till you were already past him. The blues are on so people coming down the ramp see him

Looks awkward for reading speed, and I don't think that car would be on traffic duty anyway. That just doesn't look like a speed trap to me.

Edit: Did a bit of googling, seems it was at the scene of a crash on the M8.

Well whatever about that particular day, I've regularly seen squad cars pulled in on on-ramps watching cars in the motorway lanes below, both on the M8 and the M3 on the exit before Navan (coming from Dublin)

They also tend to sit in at what looks like an unfinished off-ramp at around junction 16 southbound on the M7. Saw them there only a fortnight ago. You don't notice them till you're just past them.

Could they be possibly waiting for a certain car to pass? Like you see sometimes on those UK cop shows

I don't know mate. More room I suppose. Then again, they're lucky to have a new car a'tall. I've heard of instances where people who've been broken into have had to go to the Station and pick up the Cop to bring them out to the house because they've no squad car

Minor point, but that is the 2005 BullRun (Not to be confused with the Cannon Ball) on the Bonnyville Salt Flats. The car in question is Alex Roy's (Team Polizei) Google '32 Hours 7 Minutes', its well worth a watch. The guy is a legend.
