Custom colours in word 2010 for mac

    Apologies if this isnt the correct forum. I need to fill shapes in a chart in a certain colour. I have the pantone (or word equiv) colour number but i don't see how you create a colour using it. Can anyone help?

    Firstly, its a bit pedantic but needs to be mentioned, Word 2010 is a Windows product, Word 2011 is the Mac version.
    That said Microsoft Office never supported Pantone colours. Pantone themselves sell ( sold? ) plug-in software to enable their color system be used in Office but only for Windows.

    Your best bet is to convert to RGB.

    Ok click on the shape you want or just draw one, right click and format shape, select Fill and click on the colour pull down menu, more colours, RGB Sliders,

    Got your pantone reference, use this converter

    Pull or type the values in the RGB sliders R/G/B. Presto you've got a close match.

    Drag and drop the selected colour into the little white boxes below, now you have custom colours.

    Click the arrow beside Fill, choose More Colors
    Beside the color, there's a magnifying glass, click on it. It then allows you to sample the color in the image. Matches exactly 9 out of 10 times.
