A little bit of background about my struggles with fitness and weight lifting, basically iv been trying to get improve myself and my mindset with the use of weight lifting since iv been in leaving cert, that has been over 3 years now.

I have failed in my quest every single time iv have tried so hard. I would go great for about 2-4 months, then i would just go off it all and let my diet go to shiat and just not go to the gym, sometimes its like there's a little voice at the back of my head that is telling me that there's no point, that all this work is for nothing. Just give up, your not going to look better, that sort of crap. Then i give up.

I really don't know why this happens me, i mean i see good gains and all, each of those times i managed to lose weight and gain a nice bit of muscle, you would think that seeing these sort of gains that it would keep me going, but it didnt.

I have good genetics in terms of muscle structure, frame and strength.
I look in the mirror every day with my shirt off and i see the body that i could achieve if i just kept going, just waiting to be revealed under all that fat. I tell myself that im going to do it right this time, but i always fail :(.

Yes i realise that im going to achieve it in 2 months, not a year, but up to 2-3 years.

I suppose it doesn't help that i live at home with my parents, each time iv done so well with my diet and training my parents always butt in and say stuff that im not eating enough and that i cant eat certain foods, and they i am working out too hard, but they never understand no matter how much i tried to explain the science behind my ways.
I cant move out because im working a minimum wage job waiting to go back to college when im 23 as a mature student, but i am making a little money on the side investing.

Both my parents always reply with things like "what do they know"," they only write that to make money", different shiat like that, plenty more quotes, but i just cant think of them at the minute.
Dont get me wrong though, my parents are great people, they look after me well.

I dont think ill ever get fit now, i think that i should just give up since i have failed so much that i am not going to keep it going this time around.
Im just going to stay fat and ugly. :(

I know this is a long post, but i really need support or help, i just dont know what to do. :(

Only you can make yourself commit to this. You say that you see good progress in the 4 months that you train hard and eat well; does this not give you enough motivation to continue?

I had the same issues as yourself for years. I'd start some half assed exercise plan for a few months, with no real clue and no proper eating plan. I'd see saw my weight up and down by 10 pounds or so but never really get anywhere.

2 years ago I decided it was time to educate myself. I have spent days learning about exercise and nutrition. I joined a gym. I learned to cook. I now follow a planned workout regime 4 days a week. I bring packed lunches to work and try to eat clean 90% of the time.

I do still slob out on a pizza at the weekends, or go and sink a few pints on a Saturday but life's about the enjoyment! I've lost 3 stone and I feel healthier and happier, I've lost fat and put on muscle. I actually enjoy going to the gym now and that is my big motivator.

Read the stickies, make a plan, and stick to it. You have to enjoy it, no point in living off carrot sticks and running 4 miles a day. You will begin to realise that you can eat very well whole being healthy. Try to look at it like a game, you are improving yourself every time you lose some fat, or put on some muscle! Train hard, and try to eat well at least most of the time!
