I have the sniffles. It developed today.

I was excited to start a new programme in the gym tomorrow. No cough.. It's above the neck. Annoying but I am energetic nonetheless . Although cough often follows after the sniffles.

Any reason not to go? I think I should but not push 100%. Maybe 75%

    Feedback welcome.. Thanks!

You'll regret not going. Start yesterday not tomorrow.

You should go! Just make sure you take something tonight (e.g lemsip) tho to stop the cold/ flu form developing.

    Any reason not to go?

    Spreading it to others?

The gym will still be there in a few days. It's a real pet hate to see people smothering, coughing and sneezing over the equipment...it should be in every gyms terms & conditions.

If you're in my gym I want you to stay home

Bar the etiquette of spreading your germs there is no reason you can't train with a common cold that hasn't spread to your chest

How would Lemsip stop a cold/flu developing? Lemsip is just paracetamol, not an anti-viral medication.

Well, I went in the end.

Im not that bad anyway, kept my sniffles to myself. I wasn`t coughing or sneezing at all.

Maybe I have spread it, but sure feck it, I probably got it from there when I went the day before!!

yeah go and infect everyone else in the gym by spreading your germs and making others sick:rolleyes:

Don't go! Sleep it off & get better. You won't give it your all if you're ill. get yourself better now then give it 100% tomorrow.

Starting your program a day later isn't going make much of a difference.

No, stay home until you're free from infection and don't pass it on to everyone else.

If your a man then you really shouldn't be messing around with man flu, that's a serious condition. If you a woman you will be grand.

    Above the neck = train
    Below the neck = don't

    Germs are everywhere.

I always go. If I'm working away for 30 minutes and its just not happening I might head home. But always make the effort to go down and see how you really feel.

Definitely don't train with an itchy scalp:pac:

I went with the sniffles yesterday , have a full on cold today and made everything much worse. Suppose everyone's different but next time I'm gonna save my energy and fight the infection first.

yeah I was unwell for a few days last week, skipped the gym and kept the same nutrition. Felt amazing getting back to the gym!

I never go to the gym when I am sick. It is very inconsiderate of others. Your body needs all the energy you have to fight off the cold so don't bother working out. Give yourself time to recover. I was feeling bad a few weeks back so I didn't go to the gym. I went for a 6 mile run instead and it was a terrible idea. About 30 minutes after the run I was in bed with a dressing gown on and I was SHIVERING. Huge fever too. It did me way more harm than good and took me longer to recover.
