Would your profession be of any use if you were trapped on a desert island?

    If you were trapped on a desert island with a small group of people would the skills you use in your job be of any use? Would they help yourself and the group to survive?

    I'm unemployed at the moment :( but I used to be a horse trainer. That would be of absolutly no use, though I would be used to roughing it a bit I suppose! :pac:

    Could be wild stallions on it so u could break them and use them to swim off island
    I'm a mechanic so could maybe fashion an engine somehow and attach to a raft of some sort

    No, my profession would be utterly useless, but I like camping and I can make fire so they might let me live in a Lord of the Flies type scenario, because I'd be useful.

    As a programmer I could put the numbers into the computer that stops the island blowing up. No, thr answer is no.

    I've a Fine Art degree so ye're sorted for nice pictures of sunsets / sunrises etc.
    I'm also an alcoholic chain smoker so consider me a potential liability (unless its an island with wild cannibis growing and a functioning distillery).

    This island is going to be flooded with programmers and other IT people.


    If there were any Gnus or Pythons on the island I'd be able to lend a hand in putting them to use though.
