D-Turbo 205's are not all that common, not too sure on the wheels but the car is cool, but how much you think it's worth? Not too clear on what's wrong with the engine.
Under the bonnet does require some work

It still looks quite well and in years to come it will be worth a bit being a d-turbo. But I'd be cautious. Engine change may have gone tits up somewhere.

Could have a sh*te dhy block and chocolate conrods. If that's the case that'd be the first on the chop list

But still, so much want :cool::cool:

Is it hard to replace them with tits down? :pac:

Still source a second hand engine, or if you really know what you're at strip and rebuild it if possible, and a great fun wee yoke if got cheap enough.

Jaysus that's more than my carina!

On the fixerupper topic, anyone interested in an e36 318is? Manual. Good base for a track car, but would need a bit of work to put back on the road, ecu fault meaning when it is idling, it is running on 3 cylinders

I would love one of these. Not my next car but possibly the one after :)

Regarding that 205, one of the injectors is gone, easiest to get a replacement engine they said.

Found an ad on adverts, was being sold a few months back like Kaiser D said, different front bumper and rear lights on it back then too.

    Looking for about €1500

A mate of mine has a MK1, they're unreal little things. So much fun and IMO, better than the Glanza that replaced them.

IMO they look better than the Glanza, the Glanza could well be a better drive though, I just don't know.

same chassis and engine as the glanza, only differences are visual. the one in the link is in very tidy condition, rare to see one with its original steering wheel, gear knob etc. that mk1 is starting to cost a fair few quid by the look of things Cian.

in some regards can't wait to see the back of mine.

They are getting rare in that kind of condition. I remember at christmas 2012 I parked my Levin beside a really really clean original one in Dundrum. I had a quick look for the photo there but can't find it.

EDIT: What kind of wheels would they have come with? Every single one I've seen have different wheels!

It's getting a lot of money thrown at it alright but he's getting a fair amount back for the turbo and diff, etc.

You're a mad man, you're only going to have to change your name again.

i think that particular one should have hub caps http://www.ukstarletowners.com/page/articles.html/_/jdm-scans/1995-ep82-gt-advance-brochure-r33 (scroll down) but there were some alloy options

these on the mk1, Cian could probably explain to you how rare these have become :pac:
    starlet.jpg

and these on the mk2/ 3... they came on higher spec'd irish e10 corolla too so are a little more common.

FFS, why describe a car as mint when there is work needed under the bonnet? To me mint is an expression that describes a car that is as it left the factory or very very close to that condition. This one being molested and needing engine work (possibly a new engine I'm guessing) certainly isin't mint. Sorry for the rant but its such an inappropriately used expression that really windes me up.

No price so only fair to assume hes looking for too much for it. A figure of €1,500 was mentioned a few posts on. If spending that kind of money on a 205 why not do it the proper way and spend a bit more on a GTI, even a 1.6 GTI if insurance/ running costs is an issue. Should be away easier to sell on and less hassle along the way

You're dead right John. You see it with ad's all the time, 'mint condition', 'needs nothing' blah blah blah and then you find out its a ****ebox that needs a load of work done on it.

Honesty goes a long way when it comes to describing a cars condition.

I agree about people saying mint condition when it clearly needs work on the engine, or a new engine. But regarding the price, the d-turbo is a lot rarer than a petrol GTI, so it will draw interest, if I had the cash I'd take a look, knock some money off the asking and source a 2nd hand engine, if everything else checked out it could be a winner, the body looks perfect.

    Rarer really doesn't mean better.

True, but in this case I'd rather have the d-turbo over the gti. Also I didnt say rarer meant better, just pointing out that it draws interest. But in any case the engine is shot, so time to move on.

There's a lot more wrong than a starter methinks..

Just after discovering a starter change on one of those is an absolute c*nt of a job (inlet manifold off for slightly better access). That's why its cheap....!
