This is the first night I've had out in about six months and my mam's carer failed to turn up to provide care that they are paid to provide, so I had to come home early to do their job. It's not the first time this agency has failed to provide care. Luckily, I have credit on my phone cos come Monday, I will be taking this further than their complaints procedure.

It's not all bad, some of the carers are lovely and I hope other posters have good experiences, but right now I am LIVID.

Were you not givin a number to ring if they fail to turn up.

If it happens a lot you need to document the times. This is reportable and the carer agency needs to show it has procedures in place to deal with this. Granted its procedures are limited on the amount if staff available but if this happens in Dublin cork or Galway where there is plenty of staff then the agency has to show it can make arrangements to send someone else.

If your unhappy with agency's have you considered a private carer.

Thanks for that Joey, private care not an option. Didn't get far with the agency, have left it to the social worker to follow up.
