Given what your record is so far an the fact we'll be doing a draft based on your overall results...
What team will you pick for Madden 14?

For me, I presume unless i completely collapse next season (or win the SB!) i'll be picking around 15 or so.

My two teams are the Titans and Seahawks, I would imagine the Seahawks will be one of the first teams off the board and would imagine the Titans would drop to 15 so will be picking them.

However if both teams were available i'd have a tough choice to make!

If neither team were available.. i've always had a soft spot for the Chargers.

Like you probably picking around mid-way through.

No chance of 49ers unfortunately and there is no way I would play with any of the other NFC West Teams or rivals such as the Cowboys or Giants.

I'd like a team with a functioning running game, a somewhat competent QB, and at least one decent WR or TE.

I'd look at the likes of Chicago or Pittsburgh if they fell to me. I'd like the Bengals too if they were there. The Texans would be ideal but probably unlikely to fall that far.

    Not the Lions anyway.

    Eagles or Colts for me.

As a fan the Eagles would usually be my 1st choice but after i said i hated the Colts, the last 5 games with them in the boards league has got me developing a soft spot for them, and so far regarding signings in the off season that they've had, compared to the Eagles, would probably have me swaying to them again if they were available.

I'm hoping for the 49ers

Could be a really good chance I might get the Jets !!!!

So will our be pick be based on our power ranking? as in how we did against human players over the 3 seasons?

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 16,192 Mod ✭✭✭✭adrian522

    Yeah, that's the plan...

Will it be outsourced to Big Bad Rob to concoct a mad spreadsheet to find out who goes where?

Standard payment of a beer and a kebab.

I like the look of the Browns these days, will wait and see how the draft goes

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators Posts: 21,692 Mod ✭✭✭✭helimachoptor

Yeah and i think that works best.

For example, Pudsy never got to the play offs with the Texans (fantasy draft) and was in a tough division. His record got him the high pick and he went with the Ravens and he's done very well.

However he wont get the chance to pick the Ravens again (presuming they dont fall that far even with the culling) so will pick a more mediocre team.

Patriots Dave wont get to pick the Pats this year and Darbey will not get to pick the Packers.

Robs sheet yes but Ben has kept a sheet since Rob left.

I'd imagine there will be a surprise or 2 in the draft.

Some people have their teams, Berty would pick the Jets if they were available at 31 with the Pats also available i'd imagine.

If i was picking first, i'd still go with the Titans i'd imagine

Yo CRAZY man! Titans suck! :D. If my next season goes the way this one is ill be a niner again:rolleyes:

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators Posts: 21,692 Mod ✭✭✭✭helimachoptor

Ah, they should be a little better next year.
O-line should be solid and the defense should be a lot better!

However.. i expect to be disappointed!

Ill give you some good news, if I pick ahead of you....I won't pick them TITans.

I wouldnt say no to the Ravens...

I'll prob be picking reasonably early given my current form :-(

Well it means you can get a better team and improve next year!

I'll probably pick a bit later this time, so out of range of my beloved Cowboys/Panthers. Could go for the Cardinals, whopper 3-4 defense they have. Palmer can throw, fantastic 1-2-3 in receivers, hopefully they get an OL in the draft or maybe a RB, or else I'd be forced to sell Fitz for an O-line. If I do really well and end up picking crazily late, I love a good mobile QB with speedy receivers, and the only team I see that even slightly fit the bill past the Boys and Panthers are the Raiders if Pryor has any passing stats.

    ANyone but the Browns....

Well, the Jags might not have enough players for an NFL roster so... So am I.

Nah I'll most likely be picking late, but I would really like to avoid the Jags, as MJD, the only reason I could work with them this year, will likely take a stat hit due to missing most of last year through injury. Although, Justin Blackmon and Cecil Shorts III will be excellent receiving options, but I would likely have to give a pick away for a decent QB again as Gabbert could get worse and I'm not sure we will be bringing in a higher rated QB after all.

Dream scenario would be someone like the Broncos, who look very strong after FA. Realistically the Cheifs have a few nice weapons. But I know ultimately the Jags new uniforms will likely see me faithfully back in black (and teal).

You take one for the team so. You'll be picking before him. Can't be worse than the Raiders.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 6,337 Mod ✭✭✭✭PerrinV2

I don't mind who I get,I probably go for the best defense whenever I'm picking

With the changes I've made they are quite good, its me thats the problem!
In the 2 games where the CPU has played, Schaub has thrown 8 TDS and 0 ints!

Still so impressed by my MLB Williams.. Ben still holds a grudge over him i bet :pac:

Well I'm glad he didn't get him, his team is good enough...

    Wait..... What???
Ah my grinding has been the best thing I've ever done towards the end of Madden 12's life and when the new game came out.
I've a consistent passing game (even when practising with less mortals than Rodgers) and my defence is quite good in terms of playcalling to create opportunities for turnovers and more willing to edit individual coverages.
My running game had a false dawn last year with 1594 yards from Benson. Miles less despite upgrading the position this year.

    ANYONE BUT THE DOLPHINS!

Going by my record I have my pick of anyone :D

With all the free agency movement the Dolphins could be pretty decent in next years game.

If I don't get the Falcons, I wouldn't mind playing with the Bengals or Chargers

Back to Baltimore or stay in Cleveland? decisions decisions

But yeah I agree - AFC North a great division!

I would be delighted to get a team as good as the Saints next year but it won't be likely. I think with the way FA is going at the moment though, there will be a lot of good lower ranked teams. Should be fun anyway.

Cowboys or saints would be nice!

Looking forward to having the opportunity to pick my team rather than being lumped with the Rams. (It was either them or the Colts, and I played as the Colts offline and they were piss poor)
That said my 1st year in the Boards League has been ace so far and playing with a poor team is the best way for me to learn good and bad habits.

Have been enjoying playing as the Redskins offline and also as the Pack.
I agreed that after free agency irl the teams will be much more balanced in M14 and still the draft to come.

3rd season still to come though!!

Yeah we seem to be getting ahead of ourselves, we still have a season left. And a season without Ben. So we all have a better chance. :)

But, but what about team Gronk. We had something special and now it is just going to be ripped apart?
I can see how this will work. Browns - Pats - Browns - Pats :D

I've made the wildcard round these two seasons and presuming Rob doesn't make an early comeback, or a new Season gives the dolphins a fantastic burst of life, could do the same again next season. Probably be picking 18-22ish.

Maybe, but someone might take them before you. A good young team with a decent amount of caps space even with the few 1 year deals you'd have to re-sign. Could be the team of M14 IMO

Yeah id say they will go in the top three, if they and the niners went top three you could see some sly picking of the Rams or Cards by a good player knowing that two of the poorer players would be in that division.....although why someone would purposly pick the Rams is beyond me.....

4-1-1 in the toughest division in football last year and 1-0-1 against the NFC representative in the Superbowl, keep writing the Rams off, it's how we roll!!!

I'm still pissed about me picking the Chargers over the Jets at the beginning of Madden 2013.

I had spent days and days going through different strategies etc (I know, but we all did it :pac:) and had narrowed it down to the Chargers and the Jets from the teams remaining. I submitted my picks in haste a bit as I picked the Chargers #1 and the Jets #2 after winning a couple of friendlies with San Diego, but after playing a bit more with the Jets and beating some good players in friendly games with them, along with loving playing with Tebow (that clutch trait is immense, he's almost unstoppable in the 4th quarter) and having the likes of Revis on D, I realised I should have gone with the Jets. Over the next few days waiting for the reveal I still suspected someone else would take the Chargers ahead of me, but alas it never happened. I started off terribly but somehow beat Berty and things were picking up for me before I eventually had to pull out which I was gutted about as I thought I was just about to get somewhere with the Chargers. I still remember that reveal - me, Berty, Ibmax and Perrin. I remember seeing the divison and just going:

    edward_norton_angry_laptop_gif.gif

    :pac:

Obviously as I haven't had the time to play this season I'll be one of the last to pick for Madden 14/25 (providing there's space in the league of course), but I think I'd actually rather that. I'm hoping EA will have developed the career mode even further and it will be more fun to pick a young, project team and build them up so if I could get a team like that I'd be delighted as I'm hoping to have more free time to commit to it.

Will the same reveal process be done this summer for it? I thought that was probably the best part of the whole thing last year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,825 ✭✭✭Mikeyt086

Yeah it was excellently done this year. Although I don't know how many people put the same effort into picking their team as Paully :pac: I knew I would get the Jags, and it has been so much fun building them into a strong team. I don't think I have any starting player under 80 overall now, and the fact that I've gone 14-2 and 14-1 in the regular seasons with the Jags makes it way more satisfying. Not sure how it works, but I might have a low pick again, and to be honest, I can see myself going with my Jags again and rocking the new uniforms, unless a very decent team drop to me.

  • Well iv been out most of ye year so id imagine I'm picking last I'm hoping the eagles drop they should be pretty terrible after last year

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators Posts: 21,692 Mod ✭✭✭✭helimachoptor

Can't see it being done any different than last year. Paully if (big if) the titans had been gone the Chargers were on my list. Lucky escape for me :)

Its based on your record, and on your strength of schedule. players with the better records and better human game records (ie a win over Berty is worth more than a win over the cpu Bills) pick later. The likes of Berty, Ben and Mikey will pick later.

What was done last year was that guys in the league picked and then newcomers picked after them.

The Colts rich vein of form towards the end of the season may have cost their GM a top 5 pick in next years Madden. :pac:
