DVD Playback problem.

    Bought a Laptop at Christmas, a HP pavilion g6 (2293sa). For some reason, it wont play DVDs for me. I've tried loads of different DVDs, through powerDVD where i get blocky sound and little to no picture, and VLC player which wont even start playing. I have used DVDfab to rip the some DVDs to my hard drive, and the ripped files playback perfectly but I want to be able to just play the DVDs. Any ideas?
