    Hey ladies,

Looking for some advice. My other half has the implant, but has been having prolonged periods as of late, and is considering having it removed because of it. She can't take the pill for medical reasons, and we want to have sex without a condom. What other alternatives are open for her?

Is there anything she could take to stop bleeding, while using the implant? Any girls have advice on what might be the next course of action?

Have been on implant for nearly 3yrs now
I too can have very painful prolonged periods, but then might have nothing for ages
Mirena coil is great but will not suit me so taking all into consideration I'm going to stay with implant. I donot want a pregnancy and want something that last as long as possible
Really your gf needs to speak to her gp for medical advice
Afaik there is nothing to stop bleeds

Is this true of all pills, combined and mini? Best to talk to someone in a family planning clinic or well woman, personally Ive found my GP not as well up in ALL varieties of contraception as they are in the more specialised clinics.

It's something to do with an increased risk of cancer. Not entirely sure, but she said she can't take the pill.

Best thing she can do it seek medical advice, which isn't allowed on boards.

    Best of luck.
