    hi all

i have a flock of mixed and crossed ewes and am thinking of cutting numbers and bringing in some p.b sheep to start a breeding flock. the dorset has caught my eye due to their adaptability, looks, and high return on lambs.
iv been going through the net reading up and researching but what im looking for is some hands on experiance or advice, are they easy lambers do they suffer with feet or hoof problems are they easy handled?
i have quite a bit of experiance with sheep but as there quite a bit more expensive to get into im just looking for experianced toughts before i jump feet first in.
thanks for any toughts or advice

farmingforum.co.uk and thefarmingforum.co.uk would be good places to ask also, lot of sheep talk on them.

    Hi alsace,

I am in the same boat as you - and was looking at Dorsets as well.

Have a look at this thread, especially this post from the famringforum.
    See post 6

Also - a comments re Dorset here, which suggest them being easier lambed.

Let us know how you go - I would be interested in hearing. I wouldn't be looking at them for a pedigree flock, just more something different...

"but can be a bit lacking in native..erm survivability."

That would concern me a bit.
