How do you calculate the mechanical advantage with a worm gear system? Is it just the number of teeth on the wheel? Does the amount of teeth in mesh with the worm gear effect it at all?

IIRC The worm is always the input, so you divide the large gear teeth by the worm teeth.

    So a 16 tooth gear and a 1 tooth worm will have a 16/1 MA, or 16.

Thanks, I got it eventually - wasn't sure what a multi-start wheel was at first!
