Had this posted in the computers section but got no replies so said i'd try here:::
    Hi Guys,
I have a strange one here.A friend gave me his laptop to look at as the volume, network, power icons are missing on the taskbar. Now i have tried to enable them but they are greyed out.Have tried all suggestions online including the registry hack but to no avail.I assume it is a problem with his profile as i set up another one and the icons are there.Any ideas??
I really want to avoid a reinstall if possible. It is a nuisence as you have to go into network and sharing centre all the time to connect to wirless networks.
    Thanks guys

Are the devices visible / enabled in Device Manager (Control Panel)?
