Sounds class. 100miles to your west there is p1ss all. I threw up after seeing pics of the snow depth over there it sickened me that much haha. Enjoy

Mostly slush at sea level so not missing much but yes further inland the pics look good even in Ballyclare up the road hehe

I did close to 300 miles last night from Derry > Glenshane > Ballymena > Carnlough > Cushendall > Ballycastle all I can say is WOW, never seen snow like it! We came across I would say a 20/25 foot snow drift up in the mountains!! Was immense. Have pictures and video and will get it sorted tonight. And write up a mini report :)

Haven't posted much recently but was through Northern Ireland today and saw what was without a doubt the most impressive snow I've ever seen. Pure whiteout conditions in the Glenshane Pass with drifts as high as the car. Similar scenes in Belfast, over a foot of snow widespread with huge drifts and snow piles. Even along major roads the snow was two feet high along both sides of the road with drifts and piles higher than the car, trees and power lines were down everywhere, cars abandoned and stuck all along the route etc. Crazy scenes

Sounds amazing. I'm think of venturing to the Glenshane pass tomorrow. Is it one of the best places you seen in the north or where there better?

Nothing here in Clare only strong easterly winds.

That weather up North must be bad for growers :(

Not good for apple trees, if you have apple, pear, peach trees actually any crops in the rosacea family get them well shaken off and covered.

I wonder how many lambs etc were lost in the drifts. No one would have foreseen those monster drifts

There was a bit of a blizzard there when I was passing through and visibility was only 20 metres or so, couldn't see much other than the sides of the road so can't tell you much but from what I saw there were some massive drifts. The front of the Ponderosa was totally encased in snow with drifts reaching the bottom of the roof, well worth a visit if you haven't seen much snow all year! Only problem for us was that there was nowhere to pull in, the two road lanes were clear but the snow was too deep to pull in so we just had to keep driving, might be better by tomorrow.

Belfast was even more impressive in that it had similar scenes only they were in the city rather than the top of a mountain. The motorway was closed for ploughing so we had to go through some back roads to get into the city and there was chaos with trees fallen everywhere you looked including a few blocking roads, saw a few electricity poles down as well and cars abandoned everywhere.

The extreme snow was very localised though, one minute you're driving through a standard patchy few cm's with no real disruption, the next minute the snow is over a foot deep on both sides with trees fallen all around, the most impressive I saw was when we were diverted from the motorway but have no idea where it actually was, somewhere in the hills NW of Belfast!

I didn't think any budding would be happening on apple or pear trees yet due to the lower than normal March temperatures.

I still haven't got a chance to do a report or sort the video yet as my daughter is poorly. But here's the images, would of liked to get more but wasn't too many opportunities with the blizzard like conditions.

I presume that the normal snow depth is melted/mostly gone by now in the north with only the snow drifts surviving the thaw?
