Yes there is usualy an easter schedule for buses and trains but good friday afaik is treated as a normal day as it is not a public holiday.

Why should good Friday be any different to any other Friday?

For those who feel they need to have a few scoops on Good Friday the train is one of the few places.

The likes of Connolly and the bigger stations that have bars will serve you once you have an Intercity ticket.

I've at times gone into Madagans in Connolly on Good Friday

It is not a public holiday - it is a bank holiday.

    There is a difference.

It is a normal working day for CIE Group employees.

Because it's good and, I presume, other Fridays are bad.

    It shouldn't but is.

There's only 2 days in the entire year that NOTHING at all operates on Irish Rail, Christmas Day and Stephen's Day.
No buses run anywhere on Dec 25th and a trimmed down bus service operates on the 26th.

So yes Good Friday is a 'normal' day.

It will run a normal Monday to Friday except some services like express etc.. will not run, only other thing with lots of business closed you'll find buses will be ahead of their schedule, as they might get into town quicker than normal with less traffic etc..

No, they run on a mysterious timetable, known only to two people, and one of whom is unable to communicate with anyone else.

Buses will scramble their numbers and destinations for the crack, and any unwary passenger will be highly likely to end up in Ashbourne with no return journey when they in fact were travelling to Howth.

In addition, buses to Palermo really will be going to Palermo and not an estate near Bray. Special fares apply and photo ID will be sought before boarding.

The Harcourt Street Line will be extended to Shanganagh Junction for one day only, but will in fact be unable to go there, as Irish Rail will attempt to run a DART up it and spectacularly fail.

Why should good Friday be any different to any other Friday?

Because we have decided that it is.
