What cancelled tv shows deserve a proper finale?

With the Kickstarter stuff a lot of fans are now hoping their show could get a swan song.

I'm sure I could think of lots, Heroes etc. - but personally i'd love to see The Nine Lives Of Chloe King and Kyle XY get closure...both ended on huge cliff hangers

Dunno why Chuck fans are crowing about a movie, It got five seasons and a proper finale ffs! - you might not have liked how it ended but it did, it was written the way the creator wanted it to end, same with The Soprano's.

Heroes ended prematurely (too many loose ends).

Tru Calling was juuuust getting good when the plug was pulled.

Jake 2.0 was good fun. No great loss, since the plug was pulled mid-season. At least Christopher Gorham got a good gig after it.

Alcatraz had a ton of unanswered questions and a massive cliffhanger.

Primeval New World had a big cliff hanger, but they aren't going to bring it back for the 15 people who were watching it.

Drive never even got a chance to survive.

Did you see the last episode? Just because a show has several (4) seasons doesnt mean it had a proper finale.

Firefly got a proper ending (it's called Serenity).

Sopranos had a natural conclusion (that drove people mad, but it was a planned ending rather than a cancellation).

That show was so promising too.. poor Tim Minear!

Great cast too - Emma Stone and Dylan Baker were both great in it.

That show was cancelled way too soon.

Amen... but I wouldn't want a new series or resolution to it at this stage.

    Ouch!
Don't think Heroes needed one, no real loose threads as opposed to cliffhangers for the next year.
Any of the more recent serialized things (ala Alcatraz or flash fwd) should've been given an extra 5 minutes just for exposition.

Basq's mention of Tim Minear reminded me of another one.

Serenity was a decent film alright but the TV show itself deserved a better closing episode rather than just being cut as it was. Even just a better closing scene.

    Good god yes...

.. was it ever released on DVD? Only got to see the last few unaired episodes via a dodgy TV rip on ITV2 years back.

So dark but so well made.

Saving Grace, The Dresden Files, Harry's Law...ok it ended but it was a dreadful ending. Firefly.... was just gone.., Blakes 7 - they didn't all die, they didn't- Avon definitely lives!

The Finder deserved a complete ending, and and although Eli Stone did have an ending, it was obviously very rushed and cobbled together off the cutting room floor.

Twin Peaks. What an ending to season 2. And no, Fire Walk With Me was not a proper or satisfactory addition to the enigma.

Sarah Connor Chronicles. Argh! Ok, so it dipped a little mid season but again, what a mindblowing finale that leaves you wanting more. Bring it back, dammit. What I loved about the 2 series was the way that dreadful T3 film is excorcised, due to some clever time travel trickery :)

Firefly. Still, if that had continued we wouldn't have had the marvellous Serenity.

Caprica. The latter half of the season got real interesting (apart from the virtual world storyline) but the wrap up in the last episode felt a bit rushed. I know they were trying to link it to BSG but it still doesn't answer all the questions.

Ultraviolet. Idris Elba, Bill from True Blood and Miles from This Life. And vampires running around London. Awesome series and quite forgotten by fans of the horror/sci fi genre.

Robin of Sherwood. Very unsatisfactory end to the third season. Wasn't helped by pouty Jason Connery replacing the brilliantly gorgeous Michael Praed, either. Nothing is forgotten... nothing is ever forgotten.

Blake's 7, you say? That is one of the most iconic endings - I hope rumours of a remake are just that. You can't top that grimness.

the great thing about the way season 2 ended is that they could pick it back up in ten years time and have a good explanation as to why they aged and why certain people they couldn't get back on the show died,

its amazing how the concept of Stargate spawned 3 shows spanning 17 season over a 12-13 years period and then it was just killed off like it was,

Sure it was trash tv, it was over the top, it was incredibly unbelievable and all the rest of it, but goddamn it there are so many unanswered questions there!!

But its the bit in the middle that we want :P

I agree with you on Jake 2.0, it seems that plotline was reused as Chuck a bit, which in fairness got its long drawn out ending.

If only all these "I will see you in 25 years" rumours would amount to something :-)

Stargate universe would probably be the first to come to mind but the BBC remake show survivors and Jericho both only got two seasons.

^ This by about 1'000. One of the greatest written shows ever, a travesty it wasn't given a fourth season. Al Swearengen is my hero!

Yea I'm +1 on this! Superb series which I only discovered a couple of years ago.. I couldn't believe the way it ended and was gutted that there wasn't another series or at least a feature film. They probably could even still do it now if they wanted to..

Other shows which were cancelled too soon were Freaks & Geeks and My So Called Life. Two very promising series but both ended so long ago now that the young casts have all grown up and would be next to impossible to recreate properly.

Couldn't agree more. One of the best shows ever. And Fire Walk with me was a prequel if i remember correctly which lack most main characters. Oh what I would give to have a conclusion. Although after all these years its hard to imagine one which could be satisfactory. Damn it anyway, short of a time machine, I think this ship has sailed. Pity it wasnt appreciated in its era.
