    St Patrick's Weekend Special

Yes, It's an All Irish SNS this Weekend. Beyonce and Jay-Z were only begging to get on, but Beefy sent them on the first plane home.

The Golden Girl of Irish Athletics Fionnula Britton will be in to talk about Running and stuff.

Irish Dancing Group Prodijig, who won some talent show or other, plug their upcoming gig in the Olympia

My least favourite Comedian David McSavage will say something controversial and generally act like a muppet.

One of Ireland's favourite MILFs Mary Kennedy 'will be in to tell us about her opinion on the new pope and why she thinks Nationwide is back in vogue' according to the SNS Facebook page (honestly)

Kathryn Thomas is on in a desperate attempt to plug The Voice of Ireland yet again 'to tell us about her amazing television career which has spanned almost fifteen years and what her plans are for the future'

Oliver Callan does his impressions. According to Wikipedia he will have a new series "to be broadcasted on RTÉ Radio One in Spring 2013." Grammar on Wiki ain't not what it used to be.

Jack L will be in to sing a version of the lovely 'Ma Cushla'. I don't know if any of the SNS regulars are fans of his at all, I don't think he ever gets a mention around here.

So there you go, Sláinte, Iechyd da and we will see you at 9.45pm on Saturday.

The SNS Facebook page says 'European indoor champion, Fionnuala Britton will be telling us about her recent win and the sacrifices she has made to make her one of the best long distance runners in Europe.'

That's not actually correct. Fionnuala came third in the World Indoors 3,000 metres (a fine achievement considering she rarely runs indoor and her training is geared to next week's World Cross Country Championships.)

Fionnuala's big wins have been in the European Cross Country Championships (2011 and 2012). In 2012 she also won Team Gold for Ireland with Linda Byrne (also a guest tonight), Ava Hutchison, Lizzie Lee and Sarah McCormack. Good luck to her and all the Irish team going to Poland next week.

I'm looking forward to seeing Jack L on the show tonight, some of ye might know I'm a bit of a fan of the Kildare man :pac::pac::pac:.

I must admit that I'm slightly nervous about him performing Macushla, as far as I'm concerned that song has always belonged to John McCormack and in more recent times Frank Patterson. Here is a 1911 recording complete with cracking effects...it makes me want to borrow my parents' record player....

I love Jack's version of Gnarls Barkley's Crazy though :).

MrsD, I heard Rufus Wainwright doing a lovely version of that song at Oxegen one year (2007, I think). He asked the crowd if they were familiar with it, and scolded those who weren't - saying they should listen to more John McCormack!

Sinéad O'Connor and Brian Wilson were on the same stage as Rufus that evening, one of the best festival line-ups I have ever seen.

His Rory MciIlroy sounds like his Louis Walsh.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,316 ✭✭✭darlett

Why would an impersonator need his personas to be introduced. Constantly. Brendans doing the links for him today but hes usually not afraid to start off with "HI, IM SUCH AND SUCH-blah blah blah" Gas.

This is so crap, it's even worse than Brendan's joke slot.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 49,731 ✭✭✭✭coolhull

    And Callan's a comedian?
    Could have fooled me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 74,320 ✭✭✭✭Welsh Megaman

Isn't Mario Rosenstock doing work for Radio 1 too? Thought RTE signed him up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,063 ✭✭✭Hitchens

    Mary ...sigh

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,444 ✭✭✭✭Skid X

The Audience members wearing the silly hats should take them off ... the people behind them want to see Mary.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,585 ✭✭✭✭Lady Chatterton

A good impersonator wouldn't need introductions...let the audience work out who it is for themselves.

This is like being at a dinner party when some stranger is telling you about their kids and you really couldn't care less.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,063 ✭✭✭Hitchens

    look at those cheekbones

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,585 ✭✭✭✭Lady Chatterton

Spot on, Harry. Like when they start talking about 'Seamus' without telling you he is their son. That always annoys me.
