Great. Love Strike Back. brilliant and all as season one was with richard artimage I like the faster pace of season 2 and 3 with the yank playing an englishman and the aussie playing a yank. robson Green is always welcome as is Scott.

I love Strike Back but it has been getting more and more unrealistic and fantastical as it goes along. I hope they take a more realistic turn this season.

Someone said in the thread for season 3 that the action sequences have gotten bigger and better and that it took away the effect that season 2 had where every time that Scott and Stonebridge managed to get out of trouble you got the feeling that they were lucky to get out with their lives. I think this is true but for me it wasn't enough to detract from it in a significant way. What did detract from it a touch was Rhona Mitra (as fine as she is) didn't look comfortable with using the various weapons and it was quite apparent.
Dougray Scott is a very good actor and its a wonder why he isn't a lot bigger than he actually is. Anyone see him in New Town Killers?

You gotta hand it to them, they have amazing budget levels, shows feels like an old Arnie movie from the 80's. The amount of ammo and 'splosions they left off on this shows.

This is a MAN show!

Tried watching season 1 (UK) of this and coudn't really get into it...
Was there a series reboot after series 1?
When is the best place to "break into" watching the show? (i.e. besides S01E01 are there any good starting points?)

All series are pretty standalone (none end with a cliffhanger).

Season 2 is pretty much a reboot (introducing the 2 main characters going forward), so that's as good a place as any if you didn't like Season 1.

season 2 and 3 are excellent, mainly because yanks throw money at it. Go with season 2 ep 1.

What channel is cinemax on Sky? Can't seem to find Strike Back on the Sky listing page. Or is it going to showed on Sky One eventually?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,617 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

Cinemax is in the US only.

Strike Back Season 4 is airing on Sky One in the autumn.

    ep03
    Dougray Scott
    arrives.

    I love this show.

I don't know why this show doesn't get as much love as it deserves
I see Damien is the lead in the new 300 movie coming out

This show's such fun. Great chemistry between the leads, lots of action and constantly keeping up the pace.

Dougray Scott stole the show this week - hopefully he's not bumped off any time soon. This being "Strike Back" though I wouldn't bet on it.

It's a great show alright. And IMO this season so far seems a lot better than the last one (apart from the lack of Charles Dance of course). They've got a better balance on the action.

ep4, ****, they do like to kill of characters!

Cracking show in fairness, all the subtly of a Bay movie but better.

Defo on to get in HD and show off a surround sound system. The audio in the firefights is epic

    ep5 out last night

Episode 5 was great fun too. Really like the fact that they film on location - adds a lot to see them actually run around Budapest. More engaging.

IRA rear their heads here but, with British writers, it's handled a lot better than normal (mentioning Falls Road, etc).

Final fight in the airport was class. This show has more testosterone than pretty much any other I've watched and that includes '24'. A glorious ballet of gun fights and explosions.

    ep06

    Mobile mortars. ****ing epic.

    Savage episode.

The two leads are awesome. Never let the episode down, great chemistry. Really does need more love on boards

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,540 ✭✭✭freeze4real

Strike back is one of the best shows ever. Its just so good.

Today episode was class. I'd say is Kamali that killed locke son.

    ep07

Ah, I really enjoy the dialogue between Mick and Damien, really suits the show imo.

Trying to think what ep is was that Mike was exposed to chems, can't place it off hand but least he's not crazy!!

Another top notch episode, 3 eps left if the last 2 seasons are anything to go by

  • Moderators, Entertainment Moderators Posts: 18,011 Mod ✭✭✭✭ixoy

Great fun again - they really know how to get the action on and yet still have time for one of my favourite buddy pairings on TV right now. Certainly hope they don't do anything serious to Michael with this neuro-toxin.. but you can't bet on it in a show where they're the only two people who haven't been buried since the second season!

Yeah, it's three episodes. The only downside to my upcoming holiday is that I'm going to have to wait until I get back to see the finale!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 16,392 ✭✭✭✭kaimera

    @ioxy I'll spoiler tag it ;)

Really tho, those two are the best duo on screen. The chem and the writing for them is bang on. Kudos to the casting and the writers.

    ep08

 Leo! Had it coming tho, one way or another.

Silly FSB girl...cracking body but twice had no bullets!!

    2 left to go

Strike Back Shadow Warfare (Series 4) starts on Sky 1 on the 28th October 2013 at 9pm

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,617 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

I always had a niggling feeling that Leo would turn out to be a bad guy (how he just happened to be shot in the shoulder when
    Rachel
was killed, and we never saw it happen).

Another fantastic episode this week. It has been a great season....

I fuking knew it. I expected it. TBH I wasn't surprised.

Another great episode, I hopeit gets the greemn light for season 5 and both Michael and Scott play a regular role.

What an episode , no what a fuking freat show.

    Penultimate ep.

    trains, fertiliser and dogs :pac:

    Dat ending, ffs.

Cracking good season. Last ep coming up!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 61,272 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

    That was great.

But no sex scene for Scott this week the poor man.

I Just hope they dont kill one of them off it just won't be the same with one of them having a new partner.

Stonebridge and Scott need to ride of into the sunset or go out like Butch and Sundance.

Enjoying this Season 4, only 2 episodes to go!

I hope it gets renewed for a season 5.... one of the few good shows actually on tv.

Food for thought : If locke is supposed to be an SAS legend.. Im waiting for him to open a can of whoop ass on someone.... still hasnt happened.:(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,617 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

Fantastic finale. The whole car chase near the start was some of the best action/stunt work I've seen on TV for a long long time, and this episode had some laugh out loud one-liners.

Now we just have to wait 9½ months for season 5.

Anyone starting this on Sky for the first time on Monday week is in for a serious treat. This show has gone from strength to strength, and is the best action show on TV right now.

Renewed for one last season. Will miss this show as I think it had legs to go for a few more. But always good to go out on top and with Strike Back It will be with a Bang for sure!

    No feedback yet?

What an absolute CRACKER opening to the season. The last few minutes with the timer were fantastic. :)

Loved it as usual. At the beginning, when they rise out of the water and pull the guard down I could only think of Far Cry's Death From Below move. In fact some of those action scenes remind me of a great FPS.
The tension at the end though was brilliant and given it's the final season, and they do kill off characters, I feared for the characters.
