1000 Euro gaming build

12-03-2013 11:59am#1As it says,i want to build a Pc which will be used mostly for gaming.My old one which i got build about 5 years ago is on its last legs. I'll probably be buying the parts withing the next 3 weeks or so,so any help will be greatly appreciated.An SSD will definitly be needed as well.I want this to last as long as possible without having to upgrade.
1. What is your budget? 1000
2. What will be the main purpose of the computer?Gaming(Crysis 3/Black ops 2 etc....
3. Do you need a copy of Windows? No
4. Can you use any parts from an old computer? No
5. Do you need a monitor? No
5a. If yes, what size do you need.
5b. If no, what resolution is your current monitor and do you plan to upgrade in the near future? 1680x21050 at the moment.It's an old Dell 24".I will be getting a 27" HD monitor as well
6. Do you need any of these peripherals? No
7. Are you willing to try overclocking? yes
8. How can you pay? Bank Transfer/Credit Card/
9. When are you purchasing? soon...very soon

I just have one more question about the gfx card. I see that the 7950 is a damn good card. How does it compare to a 660ti? I mean in the long term and that? I have always used nVidia cards but if the Amd one is better I'll get it. Thanks
Oh and should i just get them to build it? or would it be best to try get somebody here to do it?

Thanks again BB for your help. I am going to order all that from hwsv next week. I will change the sad to Samsung but ill order the 7950 from scan. I was reading about the xfx card but it didn't get a great write up compared to other cards. The noise won't be a problem. Thx again for the help! 0

I'm still stuck on where to buy the gfx card. I'd like to get one that comes with free games like from scan/Aria,but there are so many differant brands and editions of cards there I cant choose. I basically want the best card i can get that'll last me ages before I need to upgrade. The 7950 seems great,but would i be better off spending a little bit more for a 7970 or a 670?
Lastly the case i have chosen here,Do i need to get more fans etc for it?

So it begins....
Basically all my gear from hwsv came today. I couldn't be happier with it all. Only problem is I have no idea how to build a PC. Any vids from utube that you can reccomend?

Fans can be plugged into your motherboard. The fan that will be on your CPU cooler should be plugged into the CPU fan header. Usually a 4-pin one close to the CPU, and it will be marked with tiny writing. You can see the 4-pin below marked as the CPU fan.
Left is a 3-pin header where any fan can get plugged in, right is a 4-pin header. Either type of fan can go in either connector, the only important one is CPU fan (even then, not really, it's just so it's easier to find if/when you want to change the speed)
As regards the CD drive, you can install Windows via a USB key if you want to.

Don't get excited about it, just go through the video again and tick everything off to make sure you have it done, there's really no need to pay someone to finish it, you have all the hard work done already.
As Serephecus already pointed out the fan headers will be marked on your mobo by "PWR FAN" or something similar, as long as your CPU fan is plugged in, nothing will initally blow up even if you have none of the other fans connected. You can also find the fan headers by checking your motherboard's manual where they will be mapped.
I'm guessing your old optical drive had an IDE connection? That's a pain, but not to worry, I don't have any optical drive at the moment and haven't for quite some time. You can easily install windows of a USB key and everything else can be downloaded very easily. 0 -

Except network drivers. :P I hate third-party network drivers.
The most important thing, OP, is to make sure you have your CPU installed, thermal paste on the CPU, and a CPU cooler installed as well. If you've done that, nothing will blow up.0 -

Which motherboard are you using? If it's the last one I saw you linked from a quick scan of the earlier posts(z77 pro3) Here's a picture of the available fan headers:
EDIT: NVM, turned out to be the z75 pro3, I wasn't paying enough attention :pac:
