Got the last of the fertilizer out on the silage ground, glad to be self employed on these sort of days. ended up shoveling 3/4 ton of fertilizer into the spreader after one of the balls came out of the arm, then spent the whole time unclogging the **** out of the spreader. nice soft rain though just as i finished.
The chain harrow works a treat on layared slurry. used one on all the silage ground over the weekend and it works well.

according to accuweather in my area well be getting 1.74 inches from today till end of next week, could do without it, the showers today are enough, is it as bad in cork and kerry as the weather was quoting the last couple days?

Yeah, Sunday was bad, Monday was torrential constant rain. Nearly 2 inches in our part of West cork. Yesterday was crap too. All our cattle back indoors since Sunday evening/Monday morning.

PTO setups were a handy thing.
But more electric milk pumps and pulsation kinda left them useless.

I need sleep. Looked that up and couldn't figure out why I was getting pics of dogs lying down.

Totally my own fault and will always be kicking myself but lost a whopper of a bull calf out of my best cow.. She couldn't stir him.. Barely ever I took him at the hips ... I can only blame myself ;-(

It is never the bad ones that die,we have just got our first bit of rain, plenty of 18-6-12 on to be melted in but still very cold so will be interesting to see what response is like in next week.

All to easy to blame yourself.
He could have been dead coming or died anyway if you were there, it's not like it's a sure thing even if your there.

    Ah,

It's tough to keep all corners going at times ... Neighbours stock bull broke into her and he is out of Mas Du Clo and throws the odd monster , you can't beat AI tested bulls .. She a 3rd calver , pbnr AA x lim , 289 days, You'd think a lim calf would be no hassle to her... I'd dread to photograph measure or weigh the calf but he had the whole package .... Pelvis was full of pure muscle ... Had to roll her over to get him out :-(

i can second that - was in early (5 to 9) yesterday morning and one of the girls in office says oh you're in before me this morning. Well i was about to let fly at her as the only reason i was in early was cause i was up at four to calve a cow that i'd been watching and hadn't got back to bed. All i could feel was a nose and called the vet and pulled a dead calf out of her. Bull calf off cerberus so yer one was lucky i didn't take her to pieces and she only lives two minutes from the office and i'm 25 mile away.
