Google glassed gimps?

Pighead's kept his silence for years and held his court during some of the worst fashion disasters of our time but this google glasses nonsense has proven to be the straw that broke the camel's back. It's time to speak out.

Pighead held his council during the fiasco's that were ugg boots, baggy jeans, the word meh and manbags but this google glasses crap is really taking the biscuit.

Surely this won't take off. It can't. Will lose all faith in the youth of today if google glasses become this years livestrong wristbands. Have no problem with either google or indeed glasses but putting the two together is ridiculous.

Google claim that these glasses will dramatically impact social behaviour in the future and they're right to a point. They'll cause howls of laughter and derision on the streets as the normal well adjusted people laugh at the misguided dweebs.

These glasses are the biggest threat to making human heads look ridiculous since the moustache. And before anybody calls Pighead old fashioned they'd do well to remember he's a fan of hip hop, hoodies and gritty American TV series such as 24 and Breaking Bad.

Knowing After Hours is populated with dweebs Pighead is slightly hesitant in putting up a poll but in the interests of scientific research will throw one up regardless.

Pighead has no idea why this chick looks so pleased with herself. Frankly, she looks ridiculous.

Better than the glasses with no lenses that the hipsters liked to wear

I've missed you old chap, perhaps you'd feel better if i sent you a free pair of those fancy google glasses, for indoor wear only ?

Hipsters Schmipsters. Have to disagree. Some girls can pull off the lensless glasses look with great aplomb. The look of a fox. A look that is impossible to achieve with the google goggles.

I'm sure pighead relises that these aren't just for fashion purposes, they're more like a tiny computer that you wear on your face.

I believe the technical term is 'glassholes'.

I think the tech is great and reckon I'll get it on launch.

Why couldn't they just look like regular glasses?

I think the concept is really cool but the look is naff.

They look worse than Beats by Dre, but that took off...

Pighead's well aware of that MadYaker. Question is where will it all end? Today a computer on our face, tomorrow a microwave, the next day a bicycle. Ridiculous idea that can only end in failure. Phones nowadays are more than capable of being used as a computer on the go. Faces are for eating, smiling and kissing. Not for computing.

They remind me of the glasses the black lad in Ned;s declassified school survival guide. Man I loved that show! I want a pair and I'm not ashamed to admit it :L

FYI Pighead - you know the price tag on these things is like $1500 ??

I wouldn't worry about them becoming the new trend at that price

Sorry to hear that Boombastic but Pighead realises that some friendships will be sacrificed when in the business of 'TELLING IT LIKE IT IS'. We'll meet again some day.

The sheer stupidity of anyone who uses this. It's designed to make nerds think they're some kind of cyberpunk when in reality they're allowing-even paying for the 'privilege'-an advertising agency (which is what google actually is) to strap technology right up to their eyeballs so they can improve their ability to sell them crap they don't need.

If you could get a pair to clip onto my glasses without looking bulky or like clip on sunglasses I'd buy a pair.

Beautiful post latenia. Immaculate usage of the words, 'stupidity' 'nerds' and 'crap', Brave as well. Pretty good chance that the google head honchos are currently banning you from google as we type. Big swing. We'll always have altavista, cuil, yahoo.

Could be handy for various work scenarios when you need a constant update of information.

Which is irrelevant anyway as people are being replaced by technology itself.

I agree with the Porky One. They look silly and if you could just check your emails in your glasses all the time you'd lose the needed social skill of constantly looking down at your phone which we all have developed in the past few years.

Ridiculous call Hardonraging. That girl isn't remotely fat. Starting to question the friendship we've developed over the past year. Also starting to question the veracity of your username. You sound like a softie to Pighead.

The good old days when people used to have a pencil or king size cig behind their ears, and anyone with glasses was called four-eyes.

Who needs google glasses? They look ridiculous. Ill stick to my laptop and phone for the minute. Plus the fact glasses dont suit me :p

the glasses in that picture don't actually exist, the real thing is much bigger and has circuit boards hanging off it so is something much more suitable to wearing in public because you'll look like an injured robot.

I don't think the technology will catch on until it can be integrated into the glass itself, at that stage you'll find any piece of glass could be a google glasses glass thing. I think that's happen in the next 5 - 10 years.

So don't worry pighead that picture is of a fantasy, it'll never happen that way and I assume they only released the picture to annoy you because Google are bastards.

I already have a pair of spectacles that help me make decisions and give me various information relative to certain situations.

    They are called Beer Goggles.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,942 ✭✭✭missingtime

Whatever about how silly you would look wearing them outside, wouldn't it be fairly easy to have these robbed off the top of your head?

I mean you could just wear them at home, but it would be a bit of a waste.

Oh man its great to have you back Pighead. Please commit to at least 1 thread per week old chap. Breath of fresh air is a phrase that doesn't do you justice.

OT, I think these will be developed over time to be as popular as the iPod was after it's release

Exactly. A severe lack of patience shown by us earthlings yet again. Why couldn't they wait a couple of years until they could make the head mounted display smaller and less obnoxious looking. It's like releasing the electric car when it can only do fcuk all miles before needing a charging.

I would probably wear these while out on the bike or running or driving. But not in the pub or going down to the shops. That's just stupid.

I also wouldn't pay $1500 for them, that too is just stupid.

I'm well past the point where glasses are going to make or break how cool I look. I'm gonna look stupid whether or not I wear them so I might as well watch porn through my glasses when I'm walking down the street looking like a stupid fool.

Replace every instance of 'google glasses' in the above, with 'mobile phone', and you have a list of things people said in the early nineties.
