That's right, and I for one am glad to hear it.

Its time we had a new Korean coupe tbh, the markets crying out for one!
Korean car maker Kia has acceded to calls to rebrand its latest model - the Provo - because of the name's association with the Provisional IRA.

Unionist MPs said the Kia Provo should be renamed and given a title which is “not associated with terror and mayhem”.

The Democratic Unionist Party’s Gregory Campbell (East Derry) and William McCrea (South Antrim) claimed the name had caused “deep offence”.

The Provo concept car was unveiled at the Geneva motor show, with Kia claiming the “sleek, low, yet muscular coupe-style” design was “meant to be cheeky and cheerful in its compactness and to hint at the fun awaiting on the open road”.

But in a British Commons motion the MPs said: “This name has caused deep offence given that the Provisional IRA were known as the Provos when they were murdering and bombing in Northern Ireland, the rest of the UK, as well as in Germany, where the name is supposed to have been chosen.”

    http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/breaking/2013/0305/breaking47.html

At the end of the day its only a name for gods sake! Get over it unionist community

Let's hope big Ian needs chauffeured in one lol.

It comes complete with a computerised coded warning system, and the engine starts 30 minutes after you turn the ignition key.

I think a line of cars named in honour of famous dictators would be hilariously offensive

    the ford pol pot

    the nissan stalin

mercedes sl500 chairman mao amg edition

    the subaru saddam

    the fiat mussolini

    etc etc

The Provo isn't being supplied from Korea. It's assembled in a separate, offshoot factory in Slovakia, down the road from where Semtex was invented. That's what the Officials say anyway.

If the DUP are offended by a car called Provo they'll have a fit if they ever go to Utah.

Whenever I read something like this, I actually get angry thinking of the amount of hours "educated" people spent in focus meetings and discussions to come up with it.

How do they live with themselves?

    Hyundai Hitler
    Peugeot Pinochet
    Kia Khomeini
    Mercedes Mussolini
    Toyota Tito
    Honda Ho Chi Minh
    Nissan Nasser

no,bullet proofed body chassis and metal grills on the windows plus a roll cage on the roof in case some agrieved RA/splinter group members decide to flip the thing.
and perhaps an alarm that senses rocking motion so upon an attempted flipping,it triggers a very loud music track; perhaps the godawful british anthem 'god save the queen' woud be apropriate in this instance.
