Subscapularis/Rotator Cuff

    Hey!

    For the last two months, I've been experiencing discomfort/soreness in my Subscapularis tendon. It's definitely not a full tear, I still have full range of motion, and strength (as far as I can tell, I haven't tried max strength for fear of doing more damage).

    I've been on and off with weight lifting over the last couple of years, and have had some issues with my RC in the past due to poor BP form. I hadn't done any lifting since September last year, and took it back up in January. Did some shoulder work, with frontal raises, lateral raises and shoulder presses and felt some discomfort, but thought nothing of it. Came back the following week to work chest, and in my first set, felt discomfort and loss of strength on my RC (My right side btw). Haven't been back to the gym since. Have been on Ibuprofen on and off (I know you can't take it long term), and have been icing it up and trying not to do too much strenuous activity. I see some recovery, but unfortunately I've had to move house, and other activities which have set me back right where I started.

    So I'm just wondering, has anyone here had similiar experiences with this type of injury? Should I go for an MRI? Or will a sling, some proper RICE and anti inflammatory's sort it out.

    Any constructive advice would be well appreciated :)

    don't mess with your RC, shoulder is one of the must complex joints. Physio will tell ya feck all, if you have had issues for a few years go for an MRI.

    Best advice I can give you is to get it checked out by a professional. The Sub Scap does not work in isolation and even your description of how you hurt it doesn't fully narrow down the possibilities given that the three actions you described act on a wide range of muscle from all three deltoids, supraspinatus, sub scapularis, lats, teres major and many others.

    Sometimes once we get an idea of what is causing a problem in our mind we find the symptoms to back up our theory. Better to get it looked at by someone who is trained in injury treatment (Physio or sports therapist with a background with rotator cuff injuries or a sport where this is a common problem i.e swimming, waterpolo etc)
