Couldnt see one for this race on its own so here goes,

Im on Diakali ew,im hoping for place or our conor doesnt show up :pac: he's the best mullins is sending anyways,

Our Conor was working at leopardstown today didnt show him on tele but my friend said he worked all over that bright new dawn and art of logistics who both won last week said cooper couldnt hold him gave him a squeeze and he took of from them so hes the one to beat now imo hard to see my lad reversing form.

Looks a monster our Conor. Diakali could be ridden differently and anything could happen but your right, our Conor looks like a banker to me. It's hard to believe we have so many chances this year looks like it could be another Irish year

im more a reader than aposter of this thread but i was up at leopardstown today and the monster our connor was working with minsk and a bumper horse comfortable piece of work to be honest roll on the HILL

Our Conor is a stand out in this race, also a bonus that he'll be ridden by one of the best young jockeys about.

Not a race i take too seriously, so only a small bet. But yeah gonna jump on the Our Conor bandwagon.
More so becausd of how he's being talked up by trainers and jockeys since his last win.

Well Willie Mullins rated Diakali extremely highly and Our Conor destroyed him. Still a monster of a bet at 4/1.

Nicholls is very bullish about Far West for the triumph & Henderson with Rolling Star but without my Irish tinted glasses I will be on Our Conor.

It's setting up to be a classic Triumph!

I'm on Kashmir Peak for a few months now but I see Our Connor as the most likely winner. Very hard not to be extremely impressed with him to date.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 3,132 ✭✭✭SRFC

As I said friend told me its was apparantly them horses who worked so i dunno its all very recycled info but he worked well either way appearantly,I wont be backing him but himself and rolling star I like,Our conor has won at Navan which is a stiff track so that will stand to him can see him powering up the hill.

An absolute whore of a race. However I've had 3 ante post bets and 1 of them is here. Our Conor at 20/1 and 16/1. I was there the first day he won over hurdles in Navan and was sold straight away. I'd say it is 5 years since I've had a bet in this race. I bought into the Francheok vibes in a big way. :-(

That will be all for me. Hope he does it but its a tricky race.

The ground at cheltenham is likely to be good . Therefore alot of recent form from all the horses at cheltenham will be either form from soft sft/heavy heavy ground.
I will be looking for horses that have shown good ground in the past aswell as form coming into the race.
The one i find very interesting is SOMEMOTHERSDOHAVEM.:
Shown good form on the all weather winning 3 and also one on the flat.
Was introduced to hurdling and ran a good race finishing 2nd.
The 2nd race over hurdles was against a Tim Vaughan odds - on shot SWYNMOR ( quoted as " Tim Vaughans best chance of a winner at cheltenham ). SOMEMOTHERSDOHAVEM strolled along in the race and beat KING OF DUDES ( A kings ) and SWYNMOR without too much trouble.
The fact is SOME prefers good ground and so all things are looking good ...coming here with ground in favour and in good progressive form speaks volumes for his chances.
I waited for the betting to come up and couldnt beleive it when boylesports put it up at 200-1 ! ...so i obviously took this e/w of course.
The following day it was 66-1 and now generally 50s with exception of hills and ladbrokes at 33s
SOMEMOTHERDOHAVEM is trained by John Ryan and his father Michael Ryan did actually get a festival winner. So they know what it takes
I think John has a great chance of following in his fathers footsteps with this......a relatively small yard but in Excellent form with 5 out of 10 winners recently......will be taking this to cheltenham with high hopes.
I have high hopes to :)

I backed Far West at 8/1 but that was before Our Conor won so impressively at Leopardstown and before Rolling Star was unleashed. Happy enough with the bet but not that confident.

francheok was my biggest loser ever at cheltenham! almost every race the horse won was from the front, what does mc coy do? gives celestial halo a 6-7 lenght lead from the off:mad:

Pretty much same for me. Not my only bet but certainly my largest.

Could go in large enough EW so if placed it's money back. 1/4 the odd for first 3 places @ 4/1.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 185 ✭✭tipster

on far west for a long time but i think our conor will win just looks better every time you see him

I wouldnt bother with ew - just double up the win stake. The biggest danger is interference.

hidden justice looks a nice price at 14-1 has looked very slick so far.

Another big Our Connor fan here and will be backing it, but just a word of caution to those saying its their banker and only bet etc. the Triumph is a very very tricky race, quite often the best horse does not win, as in the one that goes on to better things and of course Ireland has an abysmal record in the race.

I agree with the views on Our Conor but a friend met WPM in a hotel after the recent racing in Naas. Had a good chat with him about his horses and Willie gave Daikali as his value bet of the meeting. Said he was nowhere near 100% when he met Our Conor and had left a good bit to work on but was confident they would have him right for Cheltenham. Said if Our Conor was 4/1 there was no way Daikali should be 20/1 and he would be a lot closer if not reverse the form come the Triumph.

Ruby said while Willie thinks Diakali can overturn the form that he doesnt think he will.

Cant wait for this on friday, the fred winter winner Flaxen Lake gave Our Conor's and Diakali's form a boost today by hacking up,it was a mile behind them last time in Leopardstown,Blood Cotil performed with credit off top weight in 6th in the Fred Winter aswell,Hopefully the Mullins benefit continues with Diakali :)

Very cool ride from a star of the future.

Just a reflection the softening ground I'd say. That and the fact he was heavily eased.

This horse has gears, Nick Mordin has been raving about his times recently.

The ground is the softest in that time and he was the most impressive Triumph winner in recent memory, an awesome performance. The clock does not tell the true story.

Massively impressive and a gift of a price! :D Cooper seemed to be hugely thankful that the rain came down when interviewed post race saying that he was happy to see it as all the horses form was on soft. I wouldn't be rushing to back him for next years festival at those prices quoted given the ground he's run on so far.

What is for sure though is that we finally have a horse worthy of taking on the mighty Fly here in Ireland. There hasn't been a horse with the ability to sniff Hurricane Fly's arse since Solwhit faced him. Cant wait till they meet! :)

what a bargain buy and he should have a big future,an effortless runner

Wow. Superb performance. He was in a completely different league to them. Obviously the value of the form will only be revealed in time but the two strongest yards in England both had horses who were well fancied in behind.

Delighted that Dessie has another good one on his hands. He's a top trainer.

Lets wait to see will he progress because he has to be time to beat the very best.Remember it was the worst Triumph in 15 yrs in terms of time.We all hope he progressess and we[Irish ]can shove it down the English necks as they have been over hyping their horses for years.Remember Tony Martin had more winners at this festival than Nicholls,McCain and Pipe put together.

Im curious as to what the ground really was for this race so we could analyse the 15years comparatively. There was no way it was good to soft as quoted in the result. It had to be soft as a minimum the way the ground was cutting up from beneath the hooves.
How did it compare to soft ground triumphs in the past 15years?

Only something this wrong could get me to post here.

Slowest triumph only tells you the state of the ground. It was 5 seconds faster than the County hurdle. Last year Countrywide Flame (third in the champion hurdle) was 1 second faster than Alderwood. A 5 second difference between performances in half an hour apart show just how phenomenal it was.

Freak of a horse,Wasnt expecting that had a Diakali and Far west backed thinking one them would give him a race,Im dying to see him run again next season cant come quick enough, the champion next year is fascinating Will HF be there as a 10yr old in the same shape,MTOY will be there cannot wait to see it,

Anyone know where he goes next Aintree or Punchestown the plan?

Tennis Cap carried one pound less than him. Our Conor would have won the County Hurdle by 20l as a four year old. He is a serious tool.
